Thx [~cbuzoiu] for the (privately sent) details on how to reproduce.
What's happening here is indeed that nodes that are not in filter.xml have the
'New Node...' action placed *at a different location* - namely in the 'main'
popup menu in the bottom, rather than in the (more intuitive) 'New...' submenu.
So the functionality is there, it's just placed at a slightly inconvenient and
non-intuitive location.
The reason for the two different location of the 'new node' action is the
nature of the underlying tree-item in the project explorer: in one case it is a
standard eclipse item (in the case where the node is not part of the
filter.xml) - in the other case it is a "sling-made" jcr node..
I agree that this should be cleaned up though - the priority might be slightly
lower though, wdyt?
