[Bug 6104] X-Spam-Report improperly wrapped
https://bz.apache.org/SpamAssassin/show_bug.cgi?id=6104 Bill Cole changed: What|Removed |Added Resolution|--- |FIXED Status|REOPENED|RESOLVED --- Comment #9 from Bill Cole --- I don't object to the naive tab expansion, since preformatted multiline email headers are intrinsically a fragile botch anyway and cannot ever be "fixed" in a universally satisfactory way that won't get mangled later on by a perfectly compliant agent configured to different whims. However, it is important to understand that: 1. Tabstops are not necessarily set to 8 times the width of a monospaced font. That is entirely a function of an individual's display preferences and other choices are probably more common in modern systems. 2. Even when tabstops are set to 8 spaces, the visual width of a tab can be anywhere from 1 to 8 spaces depending on the wrap of the surrounding text. For our purposes, the simplistic tab => 8 spaces expansion isn't terrible, but it is far from perfect. 3. Any agent handling a message is free to re-wrap any headers to its own arbitrary formatting whims within the loose rules of RFC5322 and its ancestors. Any attempt to "fix" formatting of folded email headers will eventually be broken by someone somewhere. I have also bumped the default report_wrap_width down to 70 to prevent going over 80 by default. Committed in r1839487 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
