See, how are we supposed to know what incompatible keybindings you've
configured your window manager to use? Can't you figure things like
that out yourself?

Sometimes only discussing things with others shows the right path to
solve the problem.

Assuming you are using sh version of wmii. (<= 3.9.2)

${HOME}/.wmii/wmiirc_local

wmiir write /tagrules < tag
/XTerm/ -> sel
/Firefox/ -> 9
/Xmms/ -> music
etc
!

sel is current tag
you can use letters "www" or numbers "1" for your custom apps tags.

Hope it helps.

Configuration options was the thing which I liked from the start.

I used wihack in the end.

I haven't found a way to manage the columns yet (open two programs in
one tag and move one of them to the other column), but it's already
great. I think wmiir will do it, haven't investigated too much yet.

Great software.

I use quite new vaio laptop and it's not always perfect with switching

I assign programs to tags in config.h.

It's more complicated as xterms are on many tags

In wmii, you can either use wihack or create some tag rules in wmiirc.

Thanks - wihack is the way to go
I run terminals on different tags ...

I had installed direct from ebuild, but wmii didn't reacted to the
keyboard at all

What could it be then? /etc/wmii/wmiirc?
could someone post me (privately) the /etc/wmii ? (gentoo)

[dev] [wmii] "multiplication" after wmiirc

2010-09-01 Thread Piotr Zalewa
After I run wmiirc (Mod+a wmiirc) running some actions multiplies -
Mod+Enter opens many terminal windows (the number I run wmiirc + 1).
It's the same with moving windows to other views - it moves as many
windows as wmiirc are run + 1

it is behaving like that even if I remove the wmiirc_local

OS: Linux neverland 2.6.32-gentoo-r7
wmii version: wmii-3.9.2, ©2010 Kris Maglione
ps aux | grep wmii after few miirc runs:
http://paste.mootools.net/f215e2cab

Please help
