Ha, @nddipiazza. I did earlier this morning. I chose your choices over mine
in the merge, largely.

   See
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TIKA-4243?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Acomment-tabpanel=17851727#comment-17851727

What we now need to do is figure out how to serialize+deserialize
ParseContext with as little work as possible. :D

   Changelog

   net: Changed InetAddress-String
conversion methods to preserve the IPv6 scope ID if present. The scope ID can
be necessary for IPv6-capable devices with multiple network interfaces.
However, preserving it can also lead to problems for callers that rely on the
returned values not to include the scope ID:

Callers might compensate for the old behavior of the methods by
appending the scope ID to a returned string themselves. If so, you can update
your code to stop doing so at the same time as you upgrade Guava. Of, if your
code might run against multiple versions of Guava, you can check whether Guava
has included a scope ID before you add one yourself.
Callers might pass the returned string to another system that does not
understand scope IDs. If so, you can strip the scope ID off, whether by
truncating the string form at a % character (leaving behind any
trailing ] character in the case of forUriString) or
by replacing the returned InetAddress with a new instance
constructed by calling InetAddress.getByAddress(addr).
java.net.InetAddress validates any provided scope ID
against the interfaces available on the machine. As a result, methods in
InetAddresses may now fail if the scope ID fails validation.

Notable cases in which this may happen include:

if the code runs in an Android app without networking permission
if code passes InetAddress instances or strings across
devices

If this is not the behavior that you want, then you can strip off the
scope ID from the input string before passing it to Guava, as discussed above.

2024-05-30 Thread via GitHub

tballison opened a new pull request, #1791:
URL: https://github.com/apache/tika/pull/1791

Thanks for your contribution to [Apache Tika](https://tika.apache.org/)!
Your help is appreciated!

Before opening the pull request, please verify that
   * there is an open issue on the [Tika issue
tracker](https://issues.apache.org/jira/projects/TIKA) which describes the
problem or the improvement. We cannot accept pull requests without an issue
because the change wouldn't be listed in the release notes.
   * the issue ID (`TIKA-`)
 - is referenced in the title of the pull request
 - and placed in front of your commit messages surrounded by square
brackets (`[TIKA-] Issue or pull request title`)
   * commits are squashed into a single one (or few commits for larger changes)
   * Tika is successfully built and unit tests pass by running `mvn clean test`
   * there should be no conflicts when merging the pull request branch into the
*recent* `main` branch. If there are conflicts, please try to rebase the pull
request branch on top of a freshly pulled `main` branch
   * if you add new module that downstream users will depend upon add it to
relevant group in `tika-bom/pom.xml`.

We will be able to faster integrate your pull request if these conditions
are met. If you have any questions how to fix your problem or about using Tika
in general, please sign up for the [Tika mailing
list](http://tika.apache.org/mail-lists.html). Thanks!

on the TIKA-4260 branch or merge into that maybe and we can work together there?

tballison opened a new pull request, #1790:
URL: https://github.com/apache/tika/pull/1790

Thanks for your contribution to [Apache Tika](https://tika.apache.org/)!
Your help is appreciated!

Before opening the pull request, please verify that
   * there is an open issue on the [Tika issue
tracker](https://issues.apache.org/jira/projects/TIKA) which describes the
problem or the improvement. We cannot accept pull requests without an issue
because the change wouldn't be listed in the release notes.
   * the issue ID (`TIKA-`)

Thanks!

Looks like `minimal` gets a little smaller and `full` gets a little bigger,
but nothing eye-opening.

It looks like tesseract 5.3.4 had made it into noble and we don't have to
pull from `ppa:alex-p/tesseract-ocr5` any more.

Let me know if there are any objections to this upgrade. I'll merge in a day
or two unless there are reasons not to.

This works for me, except for the pushing obviously. One minor annoyance,
if the build does fail, the builder will still be around, so it will have to be
manually removed before running again. Minor, but something to remember

Awesome. Thank you. ASF infra has a way to do the auth. My current thinking
is not to rework our workflow into github actions, but rather see if we can
tweak our current workflow to get multi-arch images.

How's this for a proposed way forward?

We basically keep our current workflow on the release manager's
laptop/hardware. We modify our build scripts to build a single-arch image, run
our usual tests and then do a second call to docker buildx where we build
multiarch images and then deploy to dockerhub?

towards a release manager building locally and pushing to dockerhub --
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/INFRA/Github+Actions+to+DockerHub

Can I just use buildx along these lines to use our current workflow without
