The mozPay api is not tied to SIM card at all (see
https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/Navigator.mozPay) so
I'm not sure how you came to this conclusion. Care to elaborate?

That banks, governments and enterprises cannot use the SIM for storing
authentication keys made Apple and Google bypass the SIM.

I.e. building payment solutions around the SIM which Mozilla is currently doing
is not mainstream although it has been talked about since the late 90'ties.

So this is yet another strong argument for dumping NSS as the core...

Although it appears to be a security issue, it is really an architectural and
strategy thing which affects a huge number of OS sub-systems as well as several
on-going projects. Security forums are usually entirely uninterested in
architecture and Mozilla's is not an exception.

I hope that some of the people who represent strategy and architecture saw my

Hi Gio,

see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1073399

The easiest way to get the phone working again is to boot into fastboot
and flash again the base image (and then font fix, gaia, and gecko):

[b2g] Firefox OS support for Cordova File API?

2014-10-19 Thread william . hudson
I have a Cordova app that runs on Android, iOS, Windows Phone and Kindle Fire.
I thought it might be fun to port it to Firefox OS. I've got a Flame phone and
the app now runs, but my calls to the Cordova File APIs, to load and save
options and game status on a semi-regular basis are failing.

Does anyone know off-hand if the Cordova File APIs are supported? I thought
since I saw that Firefox OS was supported by Cordova, that this stuff would
work. Is it just a question of permissions (the app is packaged and privileged)
or do I need to do this differently altogether?

Thanks in advance for any pointers!

Regards,

William

PS - the failing calls are to things like window.requestFileSystem and
fileSystem.root.getDirectory.

Re: [b2g] No data connection and Google Calendar sync error in Mozilla Flame with latest 2.2

2014-10-19 Thread samuelpy . lambert
Hello Igor,
I am using the v2.2 and after updating to the new base image, v180, I
experienced the following issue with the calendar app:
I was unable to add my Google account: after the Google authentication and
authorization the calendar app notifies me that an error occurred.
This is resolved since few days, I am currently on 2014-10-17 04:02:08 with
gaia revision abef62c0.
The data connection is working, using a single SIM on slot 1.
As said in an other thread the dogfooding experience is a little bit difficult
since the v180, so don't be afraid to found other bugs if you come back in v2.2.

Samuel

Hello,

I am a new Flame user and I just made the update by flashing base image v180.

Everything went just fine and I was about to flash one of the latest build
release but I am now worried because of following lines in MDN flame page
"Note: For this current build, Nightly development builds of Firefox OS do not
support A-GPS, which may lead to slow performance of GPS functionality. We plan
to resolve this in an updated future Nightly channel."

Does it mean A-GPS is already off as soon as I have flashed v180 ? or will it
be deactivated if I make the update to latest release builds (I target a 2.0
prod one) ?

Thanks everybody

Re: [b2g] Bug Bash on Firefox OS v2.1

2014-10-19 Thread Parul Mathur

Marek,

Living in the Czech Republic, you can participate in the European
timezone of the Bug Bash which runs from 3 pm to 5 pm CEST. The effort
is being coordinated from Mozilla's Paris office by Johan Lorenzo
(jlore...@mozilla.com).

You can join through online video conferencing:
https://v.mozilla.co/flex.html?roomdirect.html&key=nL4PESn1IaVh

You can also use the IRC Channel #fxosqa on irc.mozilla.org for live chat.

On Oct 23, please upgrade your Flame to that day's latest build and help
us file bugs that will address the issues you are seeing.

We look forward to your participation!

Living in the Czech Republic I wouldn't be able to attend, unfortunatelly, but
I wish you luck in this. It is sorely needed.

I use KK Flame with nightly 2.1 builds as primary device and it is far from
usable to common users.

Telephony is buggy as a hell (call continue with telephony screen disappearing,
user is unable to terminate it or do whatever else than hard restart...or
sometimes telephony screen is missing upper half), immediatelly after finished
charging it says 95% battery and discharging, SIM security does not set focus
to PIN enter field, several times got phone stucked and off during night and
thus alarm was not fired and I was late to work etc. etc.
On Flame JB base and 1.3-2.0 - when charging was at 100% LED diode went off and
I knew, during night, that I can unplug it - it is no more true with KK + 2.1
and diode is shining as long as USB connector is plugged in...

Good luck with bughunt,
MR
