Well, I think it means exactly what it says: leading spaces, e.g. everything the spec considers to be space characters. I would expect that this includes at least the ' ' character, e.g. ASCII 0x20. Using my patches (http://kannelrelease.sourceforge.net/), Ericsson, Wavecom and other modems are known to work very close to 100% for concurrent send/receive. The majority of losses occur when the modem retries to send the maximum number of times, by stops after that, assuming no network coverage, dud mobile number to send to or something like that. Failures are now logged and will soon have notification built in. We have personaly developed and tested the Ericsson gm25 and Falcom GSM sets. I believe others out there are using different mobiles. What I think there was a mistake with the "spaces" word, and the correct phrase was "leading zeros" , thus addressed to the whole democratic election system, when people are electing their leaders. Kannel PPG, PI and character encoding
Hi List, I have a question about the character encoding to be used for documents (PAP/SI/SL) to be sent as part of a PAP request. Normally character encoding is not an issue with XML files, both ISO-8859 or UTF-8 are OK. Unfortunately the WAP Push specification adds MIME to the mix: SMTP as one of the oldest Internet Protocols is not considered to be 8 bit clean. That's why "unclean" content is normally wrapped either in quoted-printable or BASE64 encoding. I'm not sure what to do with multipart MIME messages to be sent over a HTTP POST request. In this case eight bit cleanliness is not an issue yet most MIME libraries (in my case JavaMail) still play it safe and insist on additional layers of encoding. So here is my question: What should I do? The WAP Push spec seems not to address this issue (the examples do not even include an encoding= statement in their DOCTYPE)... Regards Jörg

I just read RFC2387: it uses base64 as transfer encoding for application/octet-stream data. Questions about fakesmsc
Hi, I noticed several strange things with fakesmsc (from last CVS version) that I used with option "-m 1..." in order to test sms-services without sending a real MO : 1) I have problems with routing when fakesmsc is running. In fact, I don't want MT directed to an EMI2 SMSC to be catched by fakesmsc (even if that one is running). I saw the same error. Besides, current SMPP module is faulty. It drops core if u try to get http status with a web browser. phone as smsc question
Hello, I'm sorry to ask such an uninformed question, but do you know if it is possible to use the Nokia 7190 in a "phone-as-smsc" mode (provided that the right code was written for Kannel)? I'm interested in using it, if it's possible, and would write the code for it, I just don't understand how to know if this hardware is capable of doing this.
