Kannel Deployment

2007-12-09 Thread Khan, Hammad Aslam
Hi all,

I know everyone who have used kannel in production here will have
deployments with more or less;
1- Server running Kannel Gateway
2- Server running HTTP Services
3- A VPN Concentrator/Router/ADSL router with assigned static public IP to
interact with operator SMSCs

I am currently setting up the above setup with ADSL Router at (3)

I am stuck with misconception or what should I call it - My public IP is
assigned to router's external interface; and
Kannel machine is now in the private network (connected to the ADSL router's
through a switch to which Services comp is also connected).

Now,
1-how can kannel machine be visible to operator smsc? (through SMPP
connection) so that operator connect with kannel at port=13000 -Suggested
network setup?
2-How much dedicated speed is required if I connect to two operators' SMSC
where expected traffic is max 200sms/sec?

Thanking in acticipation for resolution/suggestions.

Regards,
Hammad

Hi Darryl,

you seem too new to use Kannel :)

Once you have run kannel with bearer box and smsbox (after reading all stuff
from userguide.pdf)

You can start developing your perl program independent from kannel
application running. Just think of Kannel as an independant process running
on a machine that accepts your requests of sending messages and thats it!
Your perl app will invoke an http based call to use kannel (also explained
well in userguide.pdf that you received with kannel distribution)

For configurations, you need to do nothing inside your prog. kannel has its
own text based configuration files that refine its functionality and you can
easily modify/configure them.

Hammad

Hello Everyone,
Please share your thoughts on it. In previous mailing list; I could see two
or three times the same question was raised but wasnt replied.

I have come too far to go back and select some other gateway - all our
applications are currently developed integrated with Kannel..

Pleas...

Un-predictable SMS Behavior

2007-11-07 Thread Khan, Hammad Aslam
hi All,
I am currently using Sierra Aircard 875 (GSM Modem). Sms sending/receiving
are working but one problem.
- Sometime SMS receive works (by sending a default response) but sometimes
itdoesnot.
- When i restart kannel, it releases all previously stored SMSs
- After restart, sometimes it responds to some already halted sms again and
again

Any thoughts? what segment should be worked on?
Thanking in anticipation.

Re: AT Modem

2007-11-07 Thread Khan, Hammad Aslam
Hi Andreas, - if a modem is working fine with windows system then it must
work with kannel too, I believe.(i tested many things, but i blieve I must
be forgetting somthing)

Anyhow, i have now changed the GSM modem and its working. Now i am using
Sierra AirCard 875.

Thanks,
Hammad

AT Modem

2007-11-03 Thread Khan, Hammad Aslam
Hello everyone,

Using a GSM Modem (Huawei E630) i can successfully send SMS but receiving is
not working at all.
I know CNMI configuration may have direct impact on message receive
notification; but I have set it with different/all possible combinations
even then its not working.

I suppose; as AT+CNMI is configured by its default program i.e. (1,1,0,1,0)
should work.

Does someone have any idea about possible configurations of modem in
modem.conf or any other idea about how can it work?
