CDMA

2004-09-03 Thread Muhyiddin A.M Hayat

Anybody know if SMS service is available for CDMA ?
Does Kannel work with CDMA ?
What other commercial gateway available for CDMA?

Re: CDMA

2004-09-04 Thread Alejandro Guerrieri
As long as your provider provides you an SMSC connection using one of
the protocols Kannel supports (SMPP usually), you should be ok.

Keep in mind that you'll probably face some limitations (maybe you'll
be able to send text-only messages but not binary or concatenated, for
example) but that depends on your particular provider's setup.
Binary/UDH seems to be a feature reserved to GSM but I don't know for
sure...

I connected Kannel to a TDMA network (Somewhat similar) using SMPP and
I can send text messages with no problems (only text, though).

yes. SMS is available for CDMA too. It only requires some generic
convertion on the transportation layer (IS-41) (the SS7 thing in the
CDMA world). But this is up to the SMSC. And as long as you get a SMPP
(or EMI/UCP) account to terminate messages to the SMSC, you should be
fine.

Limitations apply to the "extention features", like binary SMS, etc.

Sorry... I used wrong English. I should have said: The patch is available
_upon_ request (to me).
But it should be clear :)... I will send it to you seperately.

CDMA SAR really is on another level (SMSC level). But this patch does
provide the SAR headers for the SMSC in optional parameters.

Kannel Developers,

This patch from Rene saved my day yesterday.

I did not expect a problem doing a WAP push on our network and suddenly
found a large problem. CDMA is quite different than GSM in this regard. I
did a Google search and found a thread from 2006 where Rene said he had
patches to allow this. I sent him an email and was suprised he responded so
quickly. Attached is his patch, kannel-cdma-patch.diff.

He warned that it was applied to an old CVS version. I took a current CVS
checkout and worked to apply his patch. I got it working and am currently
doing WAP push on a CDMA network! Attached is the output of cvs diff -u,
kannel-cdma.diff.

Please verify with Rene that his work can be integrated into kannel. My work
can be.

To allow both TXT SMS and WAP Push I had to create two SMSC connections to
the same IP. This isn't optimal but I'm not familiar enough with the code
base to do it better. I hope you can. Attached is my kannel.conf that works.

David

I it has been a while since I've last sent it to anybody. I need to look

Unfortunately, we cannot give support to free software.

wappush on CDMA, source port and destination port

2005-04-11 Thread Mario Noboa

Hi List...

I need to do a wap push on CDMA, using a smpp conexion.

I'm using UDH and SI, but it didn't work. The provider (Logica) said me
that i have to send 2 optional parameter: source_port and destination_port.
Kannel send these parameters with default value.

Is any way to send these parameters in the smpp message? It's necessary send
them to do a wappush in CDMA?

Thanks in advance!!!

to be honest, I personally nevery tried this. But it *should* work.
Maybe there are people from the US who have done this before.

Can you scratch up what you are exactly doing, so we can figure out it
there is something wrong?

Do you at least receive the SMS? (Which can be detected when having
the phone very close to loud-speakers and they start to tickle noissly
when the SMS is received).
