My prioritiy is a stable system, even if outdated, as I am in production.
Basicly SMS(C) is what I care about, and unless security pushes mee
into a development release, I would rather like to stay with 1.2.1.

As is I have 1.2.1 up and running, and will stick to that until the next
 stable system is released.

I won't try to convince you... but the current CVS is the most stable
and is more then _way_ stable then the old 1.2.1. This are the facts
from the people that code it. Decide on your own.

BTW. 1.3.2 devel is in close preperation and 1.4.0 stable will follow
after some weeks.

The currently distributed spec files do not work on Fedora.

Having worked on this over the weekend, finaly I got a spec file which seems
to work on Fedora Core 1 (and possibly older RedHat systems).

As my knowledge of kannel is still quite limited a host of bugs might be
in it though. The spec file together with a binary rpm as well as a source
 rpm are available from:

   http://www.flug.fo/contrib/kannel/

It would be appreciated if some FC1 users would download the source rpm
   http://flug.fo/contrib/kannel/kannel-1.2.1-17.src.rpm
and try to rebuild as an ordinary user with
   $ rpmbuild --rebuild kannel-1.2.1-17.src.rpm

A few patches had to be applied in order to make things work:
   fixredhatinit.patch
   gateway-fixrpmbuildroot.patch
   gateway-fixdonotcreatebindir.patch
The rpmbuild will take care of these.

Patches, as well as the spec file, a binary and a source rpm are available from

   http://www.flug.fo/contrib/kannel/

Everything is based on the current stable kannel, ie. v. 1.2.1,
and everything should compile running as any user.

I would like to suggest that someone included the kannel.spec within
 the source of kannel-1.2.1

thanks a lot for the contribution. Nevertheless the 1.2.1 stable is
pretty outdated (even while it is the current stable).

Bruno was actually responsible for the rpm packageing. He's also
responsible as official debian maintainer.

@Bruno: can you please grap this from Torkil and update?! Thanks.
