lower

Ok. Now en_US.UTF-8:

% export LC_COLLATE=en_US.UTF-8
% bash -c 'case b in [A-Z]) echo upper;; *) echo lower;; esac'
upper

Right. The collation rules for en_US.UTF-8 would likely break build and
test scripts in lots of packages.

ok. I think this may have been my fault. I upgraded all the builders
the other day, and I attempted to do so when they didn't have any
builds running on them, but I think it might be that buildvm was the
'master' of your chainbuild, even though it wasn't building anything
itself, so it didn't show up to me as having an active build on it. :(

So, I rebooted it, then koji got confused and couldn't find the master
 of that chainbuild.

At least thats my theory. :(

So, resubmitting now should hopefully complete fine.

Ah, so that explains why both builds in the final stage got terminally
confused. No big deal, Kevin. Don't worry about it. All's well that
ends well, eh? :-)

It looks like the cancellation happened just under 2 hours after the
build was started. I don't see a who anywhere, but maybe I am
 overlooking something.

The builder in charge of that build was in a weird state.

I restarted it and koji handed the build to another builder.

Hopefully it will complete as expected now.

Thank you, Kevin. I appreciate the help.

Sorry for the failed builds there. ;(

Re: Roadmap for Mono packages in Fedora ?

2015-05-10 Thread Moez Roy

timotheus.poko...@solidcharity.com wrote:
 Hello,

this is my first post to this list. My name is Timotheus Pokorra, I am
from Germany, and I am also interested to get an uptodate version of
Mono into Fedora and later into CentOS or Epel.
I am developing and deploying OpenPetra, an administration software
under GPL for charities and mission organisations, on CentOS.
 https://www.openpetra.org
I am maintaining Mono packages on OBS for various linux distributions:
 https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor/home:tpokorra:mono
Obviously it is quite easy because there are no rules to follow.
I understand that a distribution like Fedora needs packaging rules,
and the rules have a good reason.

I am not working on this currently. Some one should inform upstream
 that it doesn't build for GCC 5 / C++ 11.
It seems that Mono 4.0 Alpha1 builds fine on Rawhide:
 https://copr.fedoraproject.org/coprs/elsupergomez/mono-4/build/85185/

I have added a comment to:
 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1089426

IMHO I think we should focus on getting Mono 4.0 into Fedora
(according to the First foundation of Fedora...)

 All the best,
   Timotheus

You can try hanging out at #fedora-devel on freenode irc and find some
one to sponsor you to the packagers group. Good luck.

Bug ID: 1220143
Summary: Have cpanspec generate links to metacpan.org
   Product: Fedora

Populate the URL field with a link to metacpan.org.

The attached patch causes the generated spec file's URL field to be populated
with a link to https://metacpan.org/ rather than http://search.cpan.org/.

The metacpan.org website is open source and actively developed.

I've submitted this patch upstream
(https://sourceforge.net/p/cpanspec/patches/4/), but upstream appears to be
dead.

Self-introduction: hicaponic

2015-05-10 Thread Hica Ponic
Hi,

I'm planning to become a Fedora packager so am introducing myself
here.

I started using Fedora since F20
and have used GNU/Linux for all my personal computers ever since.

Actually i'm working as programmer in a transport company,
basically i'm in my internship cuz is my last year in the university

My knowledge are in Ruby, Javascript and GTK, also i'm learning about packaging
of rubygem and fonts.

In this moments i've send my first review request (rubygem-espeak)
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1220103

I'm looking forward to contributing to Fedora, after getting so much
enjoyment and benefit from it for so long.

Regards Carlos :)

Re: UTF-8 locale in rpm build

2015-05-10 Thread Nico Kadel-Garcia
On Sat, May 9, 2015 at 11:00 PM, Orion Poplawski or...@cora.nwra.com wrote:
More and more tests/builds appear to require a UTF-8 locale. Perhaps it's
time to have rpm set LANG=C.UTF-8?

If a build system needs a particular language, it should be in the
build scripts themselves. People do local, personal compilation in
environments that use other languages, and in 'LANG=C' or 'LANG=POSIX'
to fix the case-sensitive sorting problem for 'sort -i'

For reference: if LANG=C or LANG=POSIX, then 'sort' output is case
sensitive, and case-insensitive sorting can be activated with 'sort
-i'. If LANG=en.US.UTF-8, which is the US installed standard, then no
force in creation will restore case sensitive sorting to the 'sort'
command without resetting LANG or maybe LOCALE.

The result is normally not problematic, but it can create profound
consistency when different hosts or different environments or even the
same environment at different times have different LANG settings, and
it's not tested anywhere near as often as it's implicitly relied on. I
recently went a few rounds with this because of a system where admins
were starting and restarting services as the daemon user, rather than
with a deignated init script, and inheriting different 'LANG' settings
depending whether they SSH'ed in from Linux, MacOS, or CygWin. (CygWin
was exporting an empty, but active, 'LANG' setting. Hilarity ensued.)

[Test-Announce] Proposal to CANCEL: 2015-05-11 Fedora QA Meeting

2015-05-10 Thread Adam Williamson
Hi folks! I'm proposing we cancel today's/tomorrow's QA meeting. I
don't see anything that needs meeting discussion.

If anyone can think of something urgent to discuss, please reply to
this mail and we can get together at the usual time (15:00 UTC in
#fedora-meeting).

Thanks!

[Test-Announce] 2015-05-11 @ 1600 UTC Fedora Blocker Review Meeting

2015-05-10 Thread Adam Williamson
# F22 Blocker Review meeting
# Date: 2015-05-11
# Time: 1600 UTC
# Location: #fedora-blocker-review on irc.freenode.net

It's coming up to that time of the week again: Blocker Review! We have
11 proposed and 8 accepted blockers to review (as I write this). As
usual, we're meeting at 1600 UTC. If you have some time this weekend,
take a look at the bugs. Or, if you won't be able to make it to the
review, go ahead and vote in the comments. The full list can be found
here:
https://qa.fedoraproject.org/blockerbugs/

We'll be evaluating these bugs to see if they violate any of the
Release Criteria and warrant the blocking of a release if they're not
fixed. Information on the release criteria for F22 can be found on the
wiki [0].

For more information about the Blocker and Freeze exception process,
check out these links:
 - https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/QA:SOP_freeze_exception_bug_process

And for those of you who are curious how a Blocker Review Meeting
works - or how it's supposed to go and you want to run one - check out
the SOP on the wiki:

Have a good weekend and see you Monday!

fedora's kernel builds, can you be more specific about the problems you're
 experiencing?

Kernels older than 3.18 don't build, which is a pain if you're bisecting
a kernel bug introduced before 3.18.
