All the builds that were run in f23-boost will need to be re-done (with a release bump). I tagged libreoffice-5.0.0.3-2.fc23 from f23-boost into f23. If anyone's wondering why - yes it didn't actually build against boost 1.58, but it *did* build against the updated poppler, and we needed a rebuild against the updated poppler for F23 Alpha TC composes. LO builds take so goddamn long it seemed a shame to waste one. That's a laudable goal and maybe it was true at some point, but it's kinda silly when it's using such an ancient gtkmm...see below: it's only been working up till now because gtkmm 2.4 ignores the DISABLE_DEPRECATED flags a lot of the time, when it knows it would break otherwise. The quick fix should be to rebuild inkscape with --disable-strict-build . A proper 'fix' might be one or both of two things: 1. inkscape configure.ac already hedges its DISABLE_DEPRECATED stuff in one case it knows about (some particular version of pango); it could also skip the DISABLE_DEPRECATED if the glibmm version is sufficiently new (2.45.3 or later). See: https://github.com/inkscape/inkscape/blob/master/inkscape -launchpad/configure.ac#L864-L893 2. gtkmm 2.4 already quite often temporarily undefines GTK_DISABLE_DEPRECATED and GDK_DISABLE_DEPRECATED when it knows the thing it's about to try and use is deprecated. It could presumably undefine GLIBMM_DISABLE_DEPRECATED right before it tries to use HelperList. I'll file some bugs upstream for this, and I guess check if an inkscape build with --disable-strict-build works. I suspect it may not - I think I see another build attempt which actually did fail on something in boost... -- Adam Williamson Fedora QA Community Monkey IRC: adamw | Twitter: AdamW_Fedora | XMPP: adamw AT happyassassin . net http://www.happyassassin.net -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct

We're trying to build Fedora 23 Alpha composes and we're already late; this landed just as anaconda and the compose toolchain was more or less ready, and caused a bunch of dependency issues which break installs and live image creation. It seems odd to land the new build into the F23 and Rawhide repos and *then* set up a side tag to do rebuilds. What's the point of that? The usual way a side tag is used is that the new boost is built *in the side tag* and all the package rebuilds are also done in the side tag; then the new boost and the packages built against it can be tagged into the main repo together, without disrupting things. I don't see that having a side tag for rebuilds against an soname bump that's already in the main repo achieves anything at all. -- Adam Williamson Fedora QA Community Monkey IRC: adamw | Twitter: AdamW_Fedora | XMPP: adamw AT happyassassin . net http://www.happyassassin.net -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct

Theoretically you should be able to build F21 and F22 containers and run them on F20. building an embedded Linux distro into a RPM package
I originally sent this to the packaging list, but there was no response there so I'm posting to devel now. I've also opened a review request for the non-controversial packaging of the "msed" utilities. Would anyone care to do a review swap? Review Request: msed - Tools to manage the activation and use of self encrypting drives https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1245640 Thanks. Date: Tue, 21 Jul 2015 18:48:27 -0400 From: Chuck Anderson To: packag...@lists.fedoraproject.org Subject: [Fedora-packaging] building an embedded Linux distro into a RPM package Precedence: list Reply-To: Discussion of RPM packaging standards and practices for Fedora I would like to submit a new package that provides a Pre-Boot Authorization (PBA) image. The PBA is a "bootloader" of sorts that prompts the user for the passphrase to unlock a Self-Encrypting Drive (SED) using the TCG OPAL command set, and then either chainloads to the real OS or reboots to allow the BIOS to boot the real OS. The image gets installed to the OPAL SED as a sort of "shadow MBR/shadow disk image" using a special command "msed" (Manage Self-Encrypting Drive) that I also plan to submit a package for. In my case, I've developed a tiny embedded Linux-based PBA image [1] using Buildroot [2] and the MSED software [3]. The final image is a MBR-partitioned disk image with VFAT filesystem containing the specially built Linux kernel (vmlinuz), initramfs (rootfs.gz), and the installed syslinux bootloader. Before you ask, I can't use even a stripped-down Fedora image for this purpose, because it must be TINY and it only exists to run a single command (linuxpba), then reboot. My image is 4MB and could be made even smaller. See the reasoning in [1] for why it must be so small. [1] https://github.com/cranderson/buildroot-linuxpba [2] http://buildroot.uclibc.org/ [3] http://www.r0m30.com/msed Now I know there are several challenges to using the Buildroot approach to building software for Fedora. Buildroot downloads software from the Internet, unpacks, patches, configures, and builds it. The build environment is built first, so gcc, uClibc, busybox, etc. and then the packages you want to include are built in that environment. What is the best approach I should use that is acceptable to Fedora? Would it be acceptable to bundle source packages, Buildroot itself, and my Buildroot configuration into one SRPM so everything is self-contained and can be built without requiring network connectivity? This means I would have to bundle the source code for gcc, the linux kernel, uClibc, busybox, etc. Or is there some way to pull in SRPM packages that already exist in Fedora, and use those as part of my build process so that I don't have to bundle all the source code? Additionally, I could made separate SRPM packages for Buildroot itself, any components needed (uClibc is already in the distro), the Buildroot build scripts for buildroot-linuxpba, and the actual package I need (msed). -- devel mailing list devel@lists.fedoraproject.org https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/devel Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct

Probably you need to remove some files to take place for new upload to fedorapeople.org. Best regards. Marcin Haba (gani) hi thanks for your suggestion, but i have already done this operation (removed unused src rpm ~ 20). but still the problem remain ... Then you're probably still using too much space. To be sure: $ du -sh ~ Konsole output 438Mpublic_html thanks gil If that's over the quota, then you should clean up more stuff. Alternatively, you can request more space in your Fedora People home, by asking the Infrastructure team. Re: [ACTION REQUIRED] FTBFS Packages in rawhide (2015-07-22)
Dne 22.7.2015 v 21:43 opensou...@till.name napsal(a): > rubygem-git-up jvcelak 62 weeks ago > This is actually interesting piece. This might or might not be FTBFS. This package was not touched by mass rebuild scripts, since it contains "noautobuild" file [1, 2], which (although not mentioned in F23 mass rebuild page [3]) is apparently honored. So this package should not be retired IMO and I am wondering how many other similar packages we have in Fedora. Till, would you mind to improve your script? Actually I am not sure what is the state of "noautobuild". It is not mentioned in F23 mass rebuild notes [3] at all, for F21 there is mentioned opt-out [4] but the actual section is missing. For F20 - F15 was opt-out probably disabled [5].
