Hate to reply to myself, but I'm an idiot as usual. The culprit is in
configure.ac, not in Makefile.am

$CC - -E -mavx /dev/null 2>&1
if [[ $? == "0" ]]; then
  SUPPORTED_FLAGS="$SUPPORTED_FLAGS -mavx"
  AC_MSG_RESULT([$CC supports -mavx])
fi

I need to nail down this stuff to some generally portable subset.

F25 builds a library with AVX, causes SIGILL on AMD

2017-05-22 Thread Pete Zaitcev
Hi, All:

I'm going to re-state the problem in short, but in case, URL
 https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1454543

- I maintain a library (liberasurecode)
- It contains a call to ceill() from -lm
- When Koji builds the code, something makes gcc to inline AVX
- The result blows up:
Program received signal SIGILL, Illegal instruction.
0x7fafaf9e04bd in liberasurecode_get_aligned_data_size (
=> 0x778c44bd <+61>:vxorpd %xmm0,%xmm0,%xmm0

As much as I can tell, there's nothing custom in CFLAGS in Makefile.am,
everything is inherited from RPM somehow. Here's how the actual line
looks like in Koji logs:

libtool: compile: gcc -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I../include
-I../include/erasurecode -I../include/xor_codes -I../include/rs_vand
-I../include/isa_l -I../include/shss -Werror -O2 -g -Werror -D_GNU_SOURCE=1
-Wall -pedantic -std=c99 -O2 -g -pipe -Wall -Werror=format-security
-Wp,-D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2 -fexceptions -fstack-protector-strong
--param=ssp-buffer-size=4 -grecord-gcc-switches
-specs=/usr/lib/rpm/redhat/redhat-hardened-cc1 -m64 -mtune=generic -mmmx
-DINTEL_MMX -msse -DINTEL_SSE -msse2 -DINTEL_SSE2 -msse3 -DINTEL_SSE3 -mssse3
-DINTEL_SSSE3 -msse4.1 -DINTEL_SSE41 -msse4.2 -DINTEL_SSE42 -mavx -DINTEL_AVX
-DARCH_64 -c erasurecode.c -fPIC -DPIC -o .libs/liberasurecode_la-erasurecode.o

So, what now? I have no clue where to start fixing this.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

-lGLEW here means skia is trying to get the GL symbols from the GLEW
wrapper library. But GLEW doesn't wrap all GLX symbols, so if the
application calls one of the ones it doesn't wrap, it needs to also
link with -lGL.

This is the linker telling you that skia should also have said -lGL.

I don't understand how this would have fixed anything. Can you
elaborate?

Re: [systemd-devel] Locale setup for non-shells

2017-05-22 Thread Nikolai Kondrashov

On 05/22/2017 04:46 PM, Lennart Poettering wrote:

On Mon, 22.05.17 14:11, Nikolai Kondrashov (nikolai.kondras...@redhat.com)
wrote:

I'm trying to solve a problem of supplying locale settings to non-shell
programs acting as login shells in Fedora and RHEL, as described
below.

Which services precisely are running these PAM sessions?

Note that explicitly importing /etc/locale.conf should be entirely
unnecessary: systemd reads that anyway and adds it to the environment
of all services it spawns.

I am pretty sure instead of readding this to the env block through PAM
it should just stay in place anyway, and simply be inherited
down. Hence, I'd claim that the services setting up the PAM session
are simply too eager in cleaning up the environment and should be
fixed to leave LANG= and LC_*= in the environment passed to activates sessions.

So far it seems the Debian way of doing things will work.

Could you please confirm that the format of locale.conf is not going to change
in a way incompatible with what pam_env.so expects?

The pam_env.so manpage:

http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man8/pam_env.8.html

The locale.conf manpage:

https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/locale.conf.html

Also, am I missing anything? Is there another way systemd can help here?

The syntax described in the man page is unlikely to change. I have no
idea about the format pam_env expects though.

And I can only recommend fixing the services in question instead of
taping over the issue with pam_env...

Thanks for your prompt response, Lennart!

I'm talking about logins on console now, so I assume the service in question,
technically, is systemd-logind. However, I found out that it's working OK, and
the real problem is these two pieces in /lib/systemd/system/getty@.service:

# Unset locale for the console getty since the console has problems
# displaying some internationalized messages.
Environment=LANG= LANGUAGE= LC_CTYPE= LC_NUMERIC= LC_TIME= LC_COLLATE=
LC_MONETARY= LC_MESSAGES= LC_PAPER= LC_NAME= LC_ADDRESS= LC_TELEPHONE=
LC_MEASUREMENT= LC_IDENTIFICATION=

and

ExecStart=-/sbin/agetty --noclear %I $TERM

What the first one does is obvious, and the second needs to be modified to
make login preserve the environment. Like this:

ExecStart=-/sbin/agetty -o "-p -- \u" --noclear %I $TERM

Do you think the two pieces above can be changed to let the locale environment
through?

Thank you.

If it affects just i?86, then it might very well be just some code unable to
deal with excess precision that i?86 has or with the default excess
precision of fast.
You can try -mfpmath=sse -msse2 (don't remember if Fedora still supports
pre-SSE2 HW, if yes, then this isn't an option), or -ffloat-store (if you are
willing to take the performance penalty, ideally on i?86 only), or make some
floating point variable volatile, or, if C and not C++/Fortran,
-fexcess-precision=standard.

[EPEL-devel] Re: Regarding clang support in epel7

2017-05-22 Thread Dave Johansen
This has been asked for several times but the existing version is the last
that will build without C++11 support. There are existing COPR repos with
newer versions of clang that are built against devtoolset, so I would
recommend using one of those.

Create the f26 mock chroot, then use `mock -r fedora-26-i686 install `, then build the RPM with `mock --noclean`

[EPEL-devel] Regarding clang support in epel7

I was looking around and I don't see clang on pkgdb for epel 7.

The current version is way too outdated and was wondering if the current
maintainers could maybe bump up the version ?

Precision problem due to GCC7?

2017-05-22 Thread Mattia Verga

https://github.com/OpenPHDGuiding/phd2/issues/608

I'm getting ctest failure only on F26 (and rawhide) i386, while on F25
all it's working fine.
Can a precision problem be introduced in Eigen3 with the passage from
GCC6 to GCC7?

Is it possible to set up a F26 mock chroot using GCC6 instead of GCC7?

Thanks
Mattia

Re: [systemd-devel] Locale setup for non-shells

Which services precisely are running these PAM sessions?

Note that explicitly importing /etc/locale.conf should be entirely
unnecessary: systemd reads that anyway and adds it to the environment
of all services it spawns.

I am pretty sure instead of readding this to the env block through PAM
it should just stay in place anyway, and simply be inherited
down. Hence, I'd claim that the services setting up the PAM session
are simply too eager in cleaning up the environment and should be
fixed to leave LANG= and LC_*= in the environment passed to activates sessions.

The syntax described in the man page is unlikely to change. I have no
idea about the format pam_env expects though.

And I can only recommend fixing the services in question instead of
taping over the issue with pam_env...

The 'key=value' format works by accident but I plan to make it official

[Bug 1454282] New: perl-Net-Server-2.008-7.fc27 FTBFS with Perl 5.26.0

2017-05-22 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1454282

Bug ID: 1454282
Summary: perl-Net-Server-2.008-7.fc27 FTBFS with Perl 5.26.0
   Product: Fedora
   Version: rawhide
 Component: perl-Net-Server
  Assignee: drjohns...@gmail.com
  Reporter: ppi...@redhat.com
QA Contact: extras...@fedoraproject.org
CC: drjohns...@gmail.com,
perl-devel@lists.fedoraproject.org
   External Bug ID: CPAN 105512

perl-Net-Server-2.008-7.fc27 will fail to build once perl-5.26.0 reaches Fedora
because that perl removes POSIX::tmpnam() function and then perl-Net-Server's
test fail like this:

t/UDP_test.t .. ok
Unimplemented: POSIX::tmpnam(): use File::Temp instead at
/usr/lib64/perl5/POSIX.pm line 185.
Unimplemented: POSIX::tmpnam() at t/UNIX_test.t line 5.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at t/UNIX_test.t line 5.
t/UNIX_test.t .
Dubious, test returned 255 (wstat 65280, 0xff00)

This is tracked by upstream at
 and a proposed fix
exists .

Re: Locale setup for non-shells

2017-05-22 Thread Nikolai Kondrashov

Hi everyone on systemd-devel,

I'm trying to solve a problem of supplying locale settings to non-shell
programs acting as login shells in Fedora and RHEL, as described below.

So far it seems the Debian way of doing things will work.

Could you please confirm that the format of locale.conf is not going to change
in a way incompatible with what pam_env.so expects?

The pam_env.so manpage:

http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man8/pam_env.8.html

The locale.conf manpage:

https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/locale.conf.html

Also, am I missing anything? Is there another way systemd can help here?

Thank you.

Nick

On 04/04/2017 06:06 PM, Nikolai Kondrashov wrote:

Hi everyone,

At the moment users logging into Fedora on a text terminal (console, SSH,
etc.) get their locale environment variables (LANG, LC_ALL, etc.) set up by
the shell they use. I.e. the shell ultimately sources the /etc/locale.conf
file. This works fine in most cases.

However, if the user has his/her "shell" set to any program that is not one of
the traditional shells, i.e. it doesn't source any shell profiles, or even
doesn't understand any shell language at all, then that program doesn't get
locale settings.

Theoretical examples can include captive portals on jump-hosts, or
special-purpose systems with dedicated TUI instead of a shell. A practical
example that concerns me is a user session recording program [1] which needs
to run before user shell, and intercept all I/O going to and from the
terminal.

I would like to know if it is possible to change Fedora to provide the locale
variables through the environment user "shell" inherits, instead of expecting
it to read /etc/locale.conf, which is distro-specific.

This is done in Debian already. During session setup in login/sshd/etc. they
use pam_env to read /etc/default/locale. Similar thing is possible to do in
Fedora too. E.g. just put this into /etc/pam.d/system-auth:

session required pam_env.so envfile=/etc/locale.conf

Hi Rich,

Many thanks. I have seen your comments on the source url and will work on
this.

For sure, I will also help out on other reviews.

Thanks,

It seems that the current owner of /etc/locale.conf, systemd, describes the
format quite strictly, and it is suitable:

https://www.freedesktop.org/software/systemd/man/locale.conf.html

I'll try to reach systemd folks about this. Perhaps they'll have a different
idea.

(console, SSH,

set up by
the shell they use. I.e. the shell ultimately sources the

file. This works fine in most cases.

However, if the user has his/her "shell" set to any program that is
not one of
the traditional shells, i.e. it doesn't source any shell profiles,
or even
doesn't understand any shell language at all, then that program
doesn't get
locale settings.

Theoretical examples can include captive portals on jump-hosts, or
special-purpose systems with dedicated TUI instead of a shell. A
practical
example that concerns me is a user session recording program [1]
which needs
to run before user shell, and intercept all I/O going to and from
the
terminal.

I would like to know if it is possible to change Fedora to provide
the locale
variables through the environment user "shell" inherits, instead of
expecting
it to read /etc/locale.conf, which is distro-specific.

This is done in Debian already. During session setup in
login/sshd/etc. they
use pam_env to read /etc/default/locale. Similar thing is possible
to do in
Fedora too. E.g. just put this into /etc/pam.d/system-auth:

session required pam_env.so envfile=/etc/locale.conf

Hi Luke,

You may remember we met in Brno. I've taken this package for review.

I guess you're not a packager yet, so you'll need to follow this process:

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Join_the_package_collection_maintainers

and in particular you might keep an eye on this list and the recent
archives of this list to see if there are any packages that other
people need reviewing which you can do. Reviewing is a fairly simple
process nowadays, especially with the ‘fedora-review’ tool.

Best of luck,

Rich.

Self Introduction: Luke Hinds

2017-05-22 Thread Luke Hinds
Hi,

My intro mail as a new packager to Fedora. My name is Luke, and I live in
the UK (Wiltshire for anyone familiar with the country). Most people know
Wiltshire for Stonehenge :)

I have some experience in packaging in the RDO project, and I also
contribute to various upstream projects (mostly OpenStack).

I am seeking a sponsor for the following package request I have submitted:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1452649

It is for a python library for converting BGP messages into friendly plain
text or JSON, which can then be easily handled by other actors that need to
interface with BGP sessions. The library is used by quite a number of
different projects, with some of them being situated into production
networks.

Cheers,

Luke
