2017-11-28 Thread Rich Mattes
Hi all,

I'm planning on updating bullet to 2.87 in rawhide over the weekend.
The following packages are affected:

$ dnf repoquery --source --alldeps --whatrequires "bullet*"
Last metadata expiration check: 0:37:51 ago on Tue 28 Nov 2017 07:31:59 PM EST.
bullet-2.83-6.fc27.src.rpm
cyphesis-0.6.2-15.fc27.src.rpm
efl-1.20.3-1.fc27.src.rpm
efl-1.20.5-1.fc27.src.rpm
fawkes-1.0.1-9.fc27.src.rpm
gazebo-8.1.1-1.fc27.src.rpm
openmw-0.41.0-7.fc27.src.rpm
vdrift-20141020-10.fc27.src.rpm

I will take care of all of the rebuilds once the bullet build is complete.

MySQL ODBC connector - deprecation

2017-11-28 Thread Michal Schorm
Hello,

*I'd like to remove 'mysql-connector-odbc' package from Fedora.I'm looking
for feedback for such an action.*

For a long time 'mysql-connector-odbc' was the only connector of its kind
in Fedora.
However it is not update for a many releases, because upstream disabled
dynamic linking. It was building agains MariaDB for quite a time too. But
that building broke, when MariaDB renamed its library. Now, actually, in
F27 & Rawhide it is not even working anymore, because of the missing
library.

A month back, MariaDB upstream released its own ODBC conncetor - finally
working and in GA version. On the other hand, this 'mariadb-connector-odbc'
works only with the new, renamed library. (that is F27 & Rawhide)

At this point, I'd like to see 'mysql-connector-odbc' die in order to
actual, working and fresh software to be present.

*If any of you does use 'mysql-connector-odbc', I'd love to hear your
opinion!*
before I'm making any official move.

--

There are other ways too. Mostly variations of getting the static library
from somewhere and link statically.
However the effort needed to fix it in any such a way, would be big.

Re: /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-redhat-linux/7/../../../../lib64/libQxtWidgets-qt5.so: undefined reference to `vtable for QxtApplication'

2017-11-28 Thread Michael Cullen
At a guess, and not having looked at the code or logs, I would say it’s
either a virtual destructor defined in a header file (that can cause
problems with the vtable not being generated by any compilation unit)
or it has been built with -fvisibility=hidden and the class is not
marked with visibility(“default”) and so members are not exported from
the library

Fedora Infrastructure Datacenter Move - 2017-12-04 to 2017-12-08

2017-11-28 Thread Kevin Fenzi
Greetings.

On December 4th, 2017 and running until December 8th 2017, Fedora
Infrastructure will be moving servers from an existing datacenter
location to another new section of the datacenter.

This move will allow us more space and power and to consolidate and
rewire existing servers.

A schedule for the week is available at:

https://www.fedorastatus.org/q4maint.html

To expand on that schedule:

Outage window will start each day around 15:00 UTC (08:00 UTC-7) and end
approximately at 00:00 UTC (17:00 UTC-7).

* Monday (2017-12-04) some services may be down for short periods of
time as we reboot for firmware upgrades and other updates.

* Tuesday (2017-12-05) development and build servers will be moved.
Developers are advised against submitting long running builds or tasks.

* Wed (2017-12-06) The rest of our production machines and QA machines
will be moved. Expect most applications to have some downtime.

* Thursday (2017-12-07) the fedorainfracloud will be moved. Expect copr
and any other services in the cloud to be down this day.

* Friday (2017-12-08) we will be finishing up with recabling/wiring and
rebooting any servers that still need updating. Outages friday should be
short, but may happen anytime in the outage window.

Some services will continue to be available all week,
(including, but not limited to): mirrorlists, getfedora.org,
docs.fedoraproject.org, pagure.io, release-monitoring.org,
fedorapeople.org, fedoraplanet.org, keys.fedoraproject.org

For further information or questions, please consult #fedora-admin on
irc.freenode.net or the fedora infrastructure mailing list.

Thanks,

kevin

golang-github-chmduquesne-rollinghash license change (MIT -> MIT and BSD) with 3.0.0

2017-11-28 Thread Fabio Valentini
The license changes from "MIT" to "MIT and BSD" as of the newly released
version 3.0.0, which has been built for rawhide and will make it to f27 and
f26 if no problems with dependent packages (syncthing) arise.

This has no real effect for fedora, since the changed license tag only
arises from a newly introduced BSD-licensed golang subpackage (the
rabinkarp64 algorithm), which is used nowhere yet - and all other parts of
the package remain MIT-licensed. So I'm just sending this notice as
required (https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Licensing:Main#License_Changes).

The other GSL is GNU Scientific Library, which has been around long
enough so that  the first two Google hits for 'gsl' refer to it.
Microsoft Guidelines Support Library (your package) is the third hit.
Why don't you just name it 'guideline-support-library'? I think it'll be
clearer this way.

Re: ICU 60.1 coming to rawhide/F28

2017-11-28 Thread Pete Walter

28.11.2017, 15:52, "Eike Rathke" :
> What ABI compat package?

A parallel installable package that would temporarily provide ICU 57 libraries
(but not development headers) so that packages that fail to rebuild with ICU 60
can be fixed gradually and keep on working in the mean time. Otherwise composes
fall over if one package fails to rebuild etc and QA comes after us with
pitchforks.

> Let's do builds on a side tag, unless you have a better plan?

Sure, good idea. I have now requested the side tag here:

So, all tests run from a Server image (which is a lot of them, as the
'universal' tests are run with the Server DVD) failed due to:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1513024
I've marked that bug as a blocker.

This change...actually looks interesting. Worth further investigation,
but it looks sort of like some kind of attempt to include the system
hostname in the LVM volume group name to possibly prevent collisions(?)
has gone away.

Re: Package name conflict

2017-11-28 Thread nicolas . mailhot
Hi,

Many packaging ecosystems use vendor name in package name to disambiguate,
though they are usually prepended
If the vendor didn't want its name associated with the software it could
publish through neutral entities such as Apache, Eclipse, and so on. (never add
a vendor name not pro-eminently displayed on the project website, though)

Re: Package name conflict

2017-11-28 Thread Artur Iwicki
I think that the vendor name should go at the beginning of the package name,
since suffixes are mostly used in Fedora to denote subpackages, like -data,
-docs, -devel, or modules, plugins, and such.

We have a couple of "google-*" font packages, so this usage of the vendor name
should be okay - but as Dominik noted, it's probably best to ask on the
fedora-legal list.

fedora-legal list is probably a better place to ask. I'd use
msgsl or microsoft-gsl as the package name, personally.

Just my thoughts, but I would go with "msgsl"

You could also check other distributions and see if they have packaged it...

Package name conflict

2017-11-28 Thread Vitaly Zaitsev
Hello all.

I want to add a new package GSL (header-only C++ library:
https://github.com/Microsoft/GSL) to repository, but another package with the
same name (gsl) already exists in Fedora. I decided to rename my new package to
gsl-microsoft. Is it okay to use Microsoft in package name or I need to use
gsl-ms (or even gslms) instead?

It's more complicated than just creating a new branch. modules are their
own whole new namespace (fedpkg co modules/$name) with their own
packaging data (modulemd yaml). To modularize a package/set of packages
requires doing the equivalent of a new package review.

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Module:Review_Process
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Fedora_Packaging_Guidelines_for_Modules

In the f27 modular server release, a whole bunch of things aren't going
to be installable by default: gluster, virt stack, basic things like

be modularized before it's available to install out of the box

WRT gluster, actually just yesterday I was working on creating a

doesn't involve any gluster code/spec changes, it's all higher level
packaging type stuff. I plan to submit a review request this week, I'll

glusterfs in Fedora Modular 27?

2017-11-28 Thread Kaleb S. KEITHLEY

I've been contacted by Fedora QE about this, and have bz
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1518150

I haven't followed (can't follow) Fedora closely enough to know what's
needed here. Apparently none of my co-maintainers have either. ;-)

glusterfs packages are built for f27.

Reading through -devel it kinda looks like there was a branch created. A
branch that I should be doing builds on. But I have no branch in the
glusterfs dist-git other than the usual f26, f27, master that I could do
a build on.

Would someone hit me with a cluebat please? Was I supposed to request a
-module branch in dist-git?

Thanks,

What ABI compat package?

Let's do builds on a side tag, unless you have a better plan?

COPR: usage of http:// in python client

2017-11-28 Thread Michal Novotny
Hello,

we have found out that http://copr.fedoraproject.org was used as default
API endpoint if no copr_url was specified for CoprClient initialization.
This is now fixed in the latest version of python-copr (python-copr-1.84)
and we recommend updating to that version. Also we have decided to revoke
user API tokens for which there have been accesses through the http
interface recently. You can find the list of the affected users in the
attachment and we apologize for this. Please, use
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/api/ to retrieve new tokens. If you know
you have been using CoprClient without specifying copr-frontend URL and you
won't find yourself in the attached list, please, go to
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/api/ and regenerate your tokens as well.

Actually it's not that easy as you might think ☺

Main issue is versions of dependencies: you don't really want to package all
versions of libs in your dependency chain, so you should try to port to new API
(in many cases, just bumping version is enough).

And obviously, submit all patches to upstream.

Although I definitely do agree that writing such article would be good, but
before I would like to do some improvements in rust2rpm. Also I've submitted
talk (workshop) for devconf.cz, so if it will be accepted feel free to come 😉

As Zbyszek said, this is totally new ecosystem in Fedora. Also I would like to
point that Fedora is the first distro which is able to build applications
written in Rust without internet and bundled dependencies.

We have "rust-" prefix for all packages coming from crates.io because people
can easily turn their packages to contain library too which would be kinda
inconsistent without renaming whole package to contain prefix.

But the good thing is that even sourcerpm is called `rust-exa`, binary rpm is
named `exa`, so users will always do `dnf install exa` and it will work for
them (and it will install `exa`, not `rust-exa` package).

I hope this makes sense. If not, we would be happy to discuss it. Just open a

Hmm, it seems that those package are not yet available.
I see that rust-base100 was built in koji, but it's not available in repos.
Same for fd-find and exa... Not sure what's going on here.

On a related note: why is "exa" called "rust-exa"? The "rust-" prefix seems
uncessary, for executables, since from the user's POV the implementation
language is just an implementation detail. For libraries it'd be different.
Same situation occurs with python programs, and the guidelines do _not_
prescribe python-dnf, but just dnf, etc. Is there any chance we could
drop the "rust-" prefix from user programs?

It wasn't possible to before. See

Re: Cannot find cause for ARM build failing

2017-11-28 Thread Florian Weimer

On 11/25/2017 09:21 PM, Michael Cronenworth wrote:

Hello,

My attempt at building a wine update today failed for only the ARMv7
(32-bit) builds across F26, F27, and Rawhide. I'm seeing the build
log[1] show the following message:

error: variadic functions must use the base AAPCS variant

I'm unfamiliar with this type of failure. The code that is failing has
not been changed in years. The last build that succeeded was 2 weeks ago
on the same gcc version.

What has changed in the last 2 weeks?

This changed:

https://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/commitdiff/644f497e87c51f1a1c62b26ea9f588e7bc97d13b

aapcs-vfp is incompatible with variadic functions on mainline GCC.
Maybe Wine upstream assumes that you use a patched GCC to build it?

You will have to ask them what the intent is behind this change. I
doubt that Fedora's Wine intends to run any Windows ARM binaries. So
you should be able to just drop the upstream patch.

Thanks,
Florian
