And there are still ways to do that, you can use search_s if you mark that you
are aware it's not safe. And in many cases, the tests being written don't need
that kind of access, which is why I keep asking what he's trying to achieve.

Half the issue isn't the safety, it's the huge amount of techdebt inside of
DirSrv and Entry that are problems to the framework, and violate good python
design.

And that's fine, search_s can still work - the issue here is that Anuj has not
articulated what he's trying to achieve, and has previously misunderstood the
api :(. So honestly, I need to see this in a test case, with proper code
structures to comment more.

The main reason to avoid search_s is that today in DirSrv it uses a really
horrid hack to get Entry, which I have wanted to purge with fire for a long
time - so the main reason to minimise it's use is to limit damage when I do
eventually change that api.

updating images in docker hub requires a human to file a pull request
with the exact image that needs to be pulled. It's not automated at all.
For a long time also, docker hub didn't do anything except x86_64.

So, likely we haven't had a armv7 fedora 30 compose recently, and so no
one has updated it. The container sig would be the ones to ask here.

Yes. :)

The primary arches will be at a, the alternative arches will be at b.

Thats an alternative arch, so it would be at b (fedora-secondary).
(If it composed with the final release)

Yes. This is a koji setting thats passed to 'oz' for the images. Before
Fedora 22 we used yum, after Fedora 22 dnf was used.

c is for when a release is in development (ie, before final release).

Attempting to contact unresponsive maintainers: dkaspar flaper87

2019-05-07 Thread Kevin Fenzi
I'd like to appologize for the delay in this email.

The notices I get were being filtered and I didn't realize I wasn't
seeing them for a while. ;(

We've been told that the email addresses for these package maintainers
are no longer valid. I'm starting the unresponsive maintainer policy to
find out if they are still interested in maintaining their packages (and
if so, have them update their email addresses in FAS).

If they're not interested in maintaining or we can't locate them in 1
week, I'll have FESCo orphan the packages so that others can take them
over.

If you have a way to contact these maintainers, please let them know
that we'd appreciate knowing what to do with their packages. Thanks!

Package with open and closed dual license

2019-05-07 Thread Andrew Toskin
Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find a thread dealing
with this exact situation... I'm considering a new package that is
dual-licensed under a free and a nonfree license.

The Fedora Licensing Guidelines say:

  > If code is multiple licensed, and at least one of the licenses is approved
for Fedora, that code can be included in Fedora under the approved license(s)
(but only under the terms of the approved license(s)).

In particular, does that mean the spec `License:` tag should only list the
Fedora-approved license? Or should I still list both? Or does this mean the
package is not allowed in Fedora?

I'm looking specifically into VeraCrypt, the open-source fork from TrueCrypt.
It's released under the Apache License v2.0 (free), but for some reason also
maintains the old TrueCrypt 3.0 freeware license as an option...

https://www.veracrypt.fr/code/VeraCrypt/tree/License.txt

To be fair, that's *one* intended mode of interaction, when Discourse
is used as an adjunct to a blog platform. As a substitute for "devel"
or "users", I would expect that it would sit there in a window (or
windows) of your browser pretty much always visible, or on the next
desktop, and there'd be a "bomb crater" emoji instead of the switch for
turning notifications on.

I could see using it in a "users" style forum, where I'd use it like
Twitter: wander in, see if there was anything interesting, if there
were a post or two with insufficient answers I'd provide what help I
could, and then come back next week and do the same. I wouldn't want
to use it in a "devel" forum, but that's likely *mostly* because I
have a complex set of customizations for dealing with my devel forums
in my mail client, and I'm pretty sure they won't be replicated in any
web forum. I would probably eventually come up with alternatives and
workarounds, but for many months I would be in A Very Bad Bad Mood,
and Extremely Unpleasant to Be Around. :-)

This should not be considered advocacy one way or the other vis-a-vis
Fedora channels -- I'm here more or less by accident, but if GNU
Mailman can provide better support to the Fedora community I'd like to
push that forward.

 > but there is also a "mailing list mode" which does more of what you
 > want. (One email per post, and you can reply directly.)

Which ain't so great. Not for the person who likes mailing lists, and
not for the people who like discourse as a platform. It's partly
social, of course, but there's also the technological difference
between synchronous and asynchronous messaging. Platforms designed
for synchronous messaging tend to have longer "conversations", whereas
ansynchronous messaging tends to result in branchy thread trees.

Much as I love mailing lists, I admit that there are valid arguments
and personal preferences for web fora. This is going to be one of
those situations where it kinda has to be tyranny of some kind, maybe
the tyranny of inertia, maybe tyranny of the majority. But some
people (fvo "some" including "many") will be dissatisfied.

I have no idea what you're talking about. The context of this thread
is a bug that happens during upgrades, and you do not need
rescue/install media to fix it. The Common Bugs lists the step you
need to successfully boot and fix the problem within this system.

The reality is, you can't disable UEFI on a UEFI computer. Legacy just
enables a compatibility support module on top of UEFI to present a
faux-BIOS to the bootloader and the kernel. I only recommend it if
there are UEFI bugs that can't be worked around, yet are masked by the
CSM. Any reputable vendor is responsive with firmware updates to
address the worst UEFI bugs. For laptops, not running UEFI natively
can also have negative power management side effects.

Update Information:

Conda is a cross-platform, Python-agnostic binary package manager. It is the
package manager used by Anaconda installations, but it may be used for other

EPEL has been in the past built like a rawhide where there is no regular
archiving of old releases. We are hoping to change this but currently older
packages will have to be downloaded from koji

[EPEL-devel] Is there an EPEL archive?

2019-05-07 Thread James Gamei
Hi

I’m looking for an older version of a package (specifically qt5-qtwebkit
5.6.1 for CentOS 7). Does anyone know if there is an archive like the
CentOS vault for EPEL packages?

Thanks

I may indeed have tripped over that a time or two. I've had cases where
strange things happened following a kernel update / immediate reboot. Given
the relative non-volatility of /boot, it's starting to make sense to use a
plain ext2 fs for /boot rather than a more modern fs.

If I ever have to reload this machine, I may switch to UEFI. While I don't
like the FAT filesystems, their simplicity has an advantage in this application.

I have a problem with DSLdapObjects(instance).filter() is that it
takes way more effort to write *test* code with a very little benefit.
Consider this example: I need to fetch all regular attributes,
operational attributes and entry state information from the server.
With DSLdapObjects I had to do the following:
(Pdb) _ = Accounts(topo.standalone, DEFAULT_SUFFIX)
(Pdb) _._filterattrs=["*", "+", "nscpEntryWSI"]
(Pdb) _.filter(F10)[0].get_all_attrs()

get_all_attrs() doesn't return nscpEntryWSI at all, and, as a bonus,
lowercases some of the attribute names.

vs.

(Pdb) topo.standalone.search_s(DEFAULT_SUFFIX, ldap.SCOPE_SUBTREE,
attrlist=["*", "+", "nscpEntryWSI"])

Safety here is not a main concern, since it's a test code. In tests we
need more than often to have a raw LDAP access without too much
abstractions. Main concern is precision and certainty.
Abstractions are good when they increase clarity and make things
certain. In case of the very common search pattern above, DSLdapObject
doesn't work really well. For me at least.

Again i have to use "re" module for the same .

What are you trying to achieve?

Test case is very simple: search for entries using different filters
and request specific attributes.

But those entries have types and classes - you know what you are expecting to
get.

The problem that Anuj is facing is that filter() doesn't support
attrlist. Moreover, _unsafe_raw_entry() doesn't return *all*
attributes, it omits operational attributes (like nsRoleDN).
IMHO, search_s is good enough here.

If you want to avoid any of the "magic" use DSLdapObjects(instance).filter()
then because that doesn't prescribe any classes. But it does take a lot of the safety out
of the library, and I still think that there is something missing in the approach here.
but we are testing ldap clients and need to be able to do anything the
protocol allows, not only what you declare safe

Re: module testing files?

2019-05-07 Thread Jun Aruga
I think the people who are using or used "meta-test-family" (the
application to test module), has these kind of testing files.

But I faced an installation error on my Fedora 30.
https://github.com/fedora-modularity/meta-test-family/issues/245

Are you using "meta-test-family" now?
Does it work on your environment?

mpich rebuilt with default c/cxx/ld flags

2019-05-07 Thread Zbigniew Jędrzejewski-Szmek
Heads-up: I dropped most of the build flags customizations in mpich.
This "resets" mpich back to the Fedora defaults and, inter alia, adds
all the hardening options. Unit tests pass, including those in dependent
packages, but of course this is not a definitive proof of anything. If
you see any strange crashes or slowdowns, please let me know.

I'm talking rescuing systems that do not boot anymore and that means the
install media. You can't rescue a system with broken boot from within this
