I've written a script for the Stewardship SIG that does exactly this, all
automatically. It assumes you're dealing with a Pull Request based
workflow, though (which works well for us, since we want our changes to go
through at least some amount of manual review, since we're not all that
confident in Java packaging). The script is available from our pagure repo (
https://pagure.io/stewardship-sig /scripts/review_pr.py).

Maybe that helps.

If this is different from what happens on Fedora 30, you should probably
bring this up on the test list instead.

Making testing of package updates easier

2019-10-06 Thread Orion Poplawski
One of the tedious things I do as a package maintainer is re-building
all dependent packages with a new version of a package. My current work
flow is:

- create a testing copr
- build the new package there
- Figure out what packages depend on this package - some flavor of:
dnf repoquery --whatrequires 'soname'/'package'/'etc' --source \
   --alldeps | sort -u
- For each of these:
  - clone/git pull
  - rpmdev-bumpspec -c 'Rebuild for blah' *.spec
  - fedpkg srpm
  - copr build me/testing --nowait *.src.rpm

how can we move towards something like:

fedpkg test-build-with-all-deps

and then when that passes:

fedpkg build-with-all-deps

?

I suspect rawhide gating + tests is supposed to help with this but I'm
not sure.

Fedora 31 time date format on top bar does not reflect region setting

2019-10-06 Thread Thomas via devel
Is this the place to send Fedora 31 observations?

I've set the regional setting 'Formats' via settings to Denmark(English).
The Denmark(English) setting specifies ISO 8601 time and date format.

However, the top bar time continues to show a different date format, even
after reboot.

I.e. on the US English

Oct 6 22:21:11

should have changed to Denmark(English)

2019-10-06T22:21:11

but it didn't.

People have holy wars over which is the best format .. that is a fine
debate, but when a format is specified, one would hope that is the format
that is used (independent of the argument over which one should be chosen
in the first place).

...and I dug into this and found that we were composing the f31 images

I'm glad we caught it now, but sad that it's been happening since

Re: Question about package module development

2019-10-06 Thread Jun Aruga
> So Modularity will happily unleash experimental branches that were never
intended to be released onto unsuspecting users of stable releases? How can
this not be an absolute showstopper? This failed Modularity experiment needs
to end NOW!

As far as I know, there was no rule for the branch name, first and now.
The modularity team did not create any limitation intentionally. There
was a discussion to limit branch name in a past time.
That's the why each developer can create the branch technically.
Of course I know there is a document of a version branch name for modularity.

In case of fNN branch of rpms/foo, it is created by below command like this.

For example: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1326504#c35

```
$ fedpkg request-branch --repo htslib f31
https://pagure.io/releng/fedora-scm-requests/issue/17764
```

When running "fedpkg request-branch" command, the ticket is created newly.
Then, someone can check the branch is valid or not, before it is
actually created.
So, that's no problem. The branch can not be created wrongly.

But in case of module, each developer can create any branch
technically under their responsibility, but they can not remove the
branch, even it is created by mistake, and released in a short term.
The rule "developer can not remove the branch they created and
released" was created before the age of modurarity.
I feel the rule can be adjusted considering current situation of modularity.

Only python36 and python38 was excluded, not python37.

File a bug against Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8's tracker package
component about the problem. They'll hopefully fix it up in a jiffy.

tracker-devel missing from el8 repos

2019-10-06 Thread Andrew Bauer
I am the maintainer of the netatalk package. It has an optional build
dependency on tracker-devel, but this subpackage does not currently exist in
el8 repos.

The primary package, tracker-2.1.5-1.el8, can be installed, but I need the
header files from -devel. I've extracted the spec file from the source rpm and
have confirmed that the devel subpackage was not removed from the package.

I can build netatalk without tracker support, but I'd rather keep support for
it, if the missing devel subpackage is some kind of mistake.
Thoughts?

Many maintainers do but it's widely inconsistent and while interesting
for those that do it's of dubious value because of the lack of
consistency, I tend to use the lwn.net daily security reports as they
get the list from whatever mailing list bodhi sends update details to
and that's a more concise location.

Electron is a full Chromium core with nodejs engine, which contains
ffmpeg library. If you want to redistribute it in official repositories,
you must resolve all legal issues with bundled Chromium by stripping all
patented codecs from it (like already did in Fedora's chromium package).

> So anything based on electron can't be packaged until that is done.

Most of Electron apps requires exact version of Electron core. That's
why you cannot package it once and then use with all other applications
like shared library. It will not work.

Each Electron app must bundle its own Electron core and this is not good
due to critical vulnerabilities and guidelines[1].

The webpage should be improved because it does not contain the reasons why
packaging of Electron is not allowed

Packaging of Electron is not allowed:

I don't see anything about it not being allowed. It's just that no one
has done the work to package it yet. So anything based on electron
can't be packaged until that is done.

Packaging OnlyOffice Desktop Editors

2019-10-06 Thread Germano Massullo
I would like to package OnlyOffice Desktop Editors [1], but since it
is the first time I see a Github tree very particular like this one, I
don't know what effort would be required for packaging.
What do you think about?
