Ahh, this looks like a bug in fedora-review to me: it needs to use
buildroot packages for rawhide, not the (potentially lagging) compose.

That's not the problem either. I was using it with the "--enablerepo local"
flag for mock.

  I'm pretty sure this is the result of *not* updating glibc. Did you

  I cannot reproduce this: In the current compose and buildroot,
  libglib-2.0.so.0 and libc.so.6 are consistent.

No, this error came up while running fedora-review. I'm pretty sure it
only ever installs things to the mock chroot and doesn't do partial
upgrades.

I think that fedora-review is using Mock and Mock is using mirrors by
default to offload Koji. There is mirrored just composed content AFAIK.
And I don't see this going to be changed. So how to ensure that the
compose is consistent and working, unless side-tags are used for atomic
updates?

But fedora-review only installs the requested packages and does not
automatically update the mock environment to align with the buildroot,
right?

The compose is consistent. The buildroot is consistent. But installing
a subset of buildroot packages into an installation which is up-to-date
as far as the compose is concerned leads to incosnistency.

OpenCV update to 4.5 in rawhide

2020-10-21 Thread Nicolas Chauvet
There is a need to fix OpenCV FTBFS and update it to the current
version which will require to rebuild opencv dependencies.

This rebuilt went fine in copr:
https://copr.fedorainfracloud.org/coprs/kwizart/opencv4/packages/

So the plan is to use a side-tag.
Because few packages are affected by the "timeb" removal in glibc, we
will wait a little for things to settle and probably start the upgrade
by tomorrow.

Nothing is needed from maintainers.
Thanks

I've got a build going with that and a couple of other patches reverted.
-12.f34 should unbreak this.

This really shouldn't ever happen with glibc, so we'll have to figure out a way
to allow static linking of older object files alongside this deprecation.

Fedora Cloud rawhide images not updating?

Hi,

I noticed that the image available at [1] has been stuck at the
20201004 version for quite some time now. AFACIT, it used to be
updated approx. every day before. Does anyone know what happened? I
understand that the rawhide content might not be 100% reliable, but 17
days without updating the image seems a bit long...

I'm somewhat undecided here. The GNU toolchain currently does not give
us the tools for compatibility with object files compiled against older
header versions (whether standalone or within .a static libraries). We
can provide compatibility for the __xstat family of functions because of
the nature of that change, but in general, this is not possible with the
current practices around symbol versioning. Relocatable objects that go
into static libraries are not processed by the link editor and therefore
are not bound to specific symbol versions.

Thanks,
Florian

Mass spec change: Replace Python 3 version globs (3.?) with macros to support 3.10

2020-10-21 Thread Tomas Hrnciar
Hello everyone,

with the upcoming Python 3.10 update we need to update Python 3 version
globs in Fedora specfiles. The reason is simple, Python version will be one
character longer so the currently omnipresent ?.? glob won't work anymore.
We did this change a few months ago (see:
https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel-annou...@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/PQIGCQCRNBYNXBX2ICWEM3PLDLNOG2ZT/),
but we found out that the queries were incomplete, hence here is another
update for the 3.? glob.

We will replace such globs with the %{python3_version} macro using:

$ sed -i -e 's/3\.?/%{python3_version}/g' *.spec

There are currently 48 affected packages.

$ grep -l 'py3.?' *.spec | wc -l  48

The sed can theoretically produce unwanted changes, but when guarded by the
grep, we have verified it won't. You can observe the general diff of all
affected specfiles at https://github.com/hrnciar/rpm-specs/commit/7224a5.

We plan to do this in one week via a provenpackager. We will not bump the
release number, nor add a changelog entry and hence we will also not
rebuild the packages. The commit message will be:

   Replace Python version glob with macro (needed for Python 3.10+)

If you want to fix this differently in your package, you don't need to let
us know, just do it. If you want to opt out from this change, let us know
(ideally with some reasoning). If you found a mistake in the diff, please
do let us know.

Regards,
Tomáš Hrnčiar

[ELN] Missing /usr/bin/bzr in ELN (solved, but open questions)

2020-10-21 Thread Miro Hrončok

Hello,

I've realized recently that the Python 3.9.0 final build failed in ELN:

python3.9-3.9.0-1.eln104:
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=1620970

The build failure was:
  File
"/tmp/tmpip_uvs06/pip-20.1.1-py2.py3-none-any.whl/pip/_vendor/toml/decoder.py",
line 47

TIME_RE = re.compile("([0-9]{2}):([0-9]{2}):([0-9]{2})(\.([0-9]{3,6}))?")
 ^
SyntaxError: invalid escape sequence \.

I wondered why did this happen in ELN only and not in Rawhide.
The reason is: in Rawhide we have pip 20.2.2 which contains the fix of this
problem.

So I investigated further and realized pip in ELN was not updated because the
build is failing. The failure is:

No matching package to install: '/usr/bin/bzr'

In Fedora, the executable is provided by breezy:

$ repoquery --repo=rawhide -l breezy | grep /usr/bin
/usr/bin/brz
/usr/bin/bzr
/usr/bin/bzr-receive-pack
/usr/bin/bzr-upload-pack
/usr/bin/git-remote-brz
/usr/bin/git-remote-bzr

However, breezy is not included in ELN at all:

$ repoquery --repo=eln-\* breezy
(nothing)

Despite the fact that it is in:
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2020-43fde95e1f

I can however see it in the ELN Koji buildroot:

$ repoquery --repo=kojieln breezy
breezy-0:3.0.2-4.eln103.x86_64

Yet it doesn't have the proper file:

$ repoquery --repo=kojieln -l breezy | grep /usr/bin
/usr/bin/brz
/usr/bin/bzr-receive-pack
/usr/bin/bzr-upload-pack
/usr/bin/git-remote-brz

I have discovered this is caused by a Fedora-only %if conditional in the spec
file:

# https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/ReplaceBazaarWithBreezy
%if 0%{?fedora} >= 32
%bcond_without replace_bzr
%else
%bcond_with replace_bzr
%endif

I'll fix the conditional to make it RHEL-aware. However I have several
questions:

1) Why is breezy not in the ELN compose, but is in the Koji buildroot?
2) As pip's maintainer, should I've been notified about the missing dependency?
3) When I fix breezy, should I resubmit the eln rebuilds of pip and Python?

Thanks,

It's defined as a buildroot only package:
https://github.com/minimization/content-resolver-input/blob/master/configs/eln-buildroot-workload.yaml

Probably not, I think the idea was that ELN SIG would manage that exclusively.

No. Just submit to Rawhide and the Jenkins job for ELN will take care
of it for you after it succeeds in Rawhide.

I wonder why. git blame suggests this is automated somehow.

So I should stop caring?

Python and pip succeeded in rawhide already, this is an ELN-only fix.

Hmm, that's a good question...

I think you should still care, because in practice I don't think it's
working out that way.

I mean that their bot listens for packages built in Rawhide and
triggers a rebuild automatically for ELN.

The simpler method is "dnf debuginfo-install python3.9".
(I don't know if the end result will be more successful though.)

That fails as well:

Could not find debuginfo package for the following installed packages:
python3-3.9.0-1.fc34.x86_64

Well, I also have always trouble with installing "python3.9-debuginfo" and
I have to download directory from koji.

Looking at dnf metadata by
$ unzck -c
/var/cache/dnf//repodata/-primary.xml.zck
| less

actually metadata does not contain "python3.9-debuginfo" rpm, so maybe
something is already

broken when creating dnf metadata??

Thanks for confirming the issue. I've filed:

list major languages first in anaconda

2020-10-21 Thread Sundeep Anand
Hi,

To help users choose their native language anaconda tries to evaluate priority
languages based on geolocation and place them first in the list. Proposal[1] is
to broad this scope by appending major/common speaking languages as well. This
may cater to the use case where a major/common language speaker relocated to a
different territory. Determining the list of major/common language is tricky,
however, as a starting point we may look at gnome-control-center[2].

thoughts?

regards,
sundeep

zstd support has been merged for 5.9:
https://kernelnewbies.org/Linux_5.9#Support_for_ZSTD_compressed_kernel.2C_ramdisk_and_initramfs.
Does this support also extend to firmware?
