Downgrading is pretty common as the new release is frozen so new updates
only go to the old releases. Although, if the other system you're
referring to was an update to F32 beta and not an F31 update, then it
probably was an out of date mirror.

This looks like a bug in the dejavu-fonts package. Please either chime
in in the bug about the incompatible packaging changes [0] or open a
new one.

There appears to be a packaging change causing this problem.

   file /usr/share/widelands/i18n/fonts/DejaVu from install of
widelands-0-0.76.build20.fc32.x86_64 conflicts with file from package
widelands-0-0.72.build20.fc31.x86_64

In the F31 version, /usr/share/widelands/i18n/fonts/DejaVu is a link to
the system fonts directory. In the F32 version, somehow it has become a
real directory with font files in it.

   file /usr/share/fonts/dejavu/DejaVuSans-Bold.ttf conflicts between attempted
installs of compat-f32-dejavu-sans-fonts-2.37-7.fc32.noarch and
widelands-0-0.76.build20.fc32.x86_64
   file /usr/share/fonts/dejavu/DejaVuSans-BoldOblique.ttf conflicts between
attempted installs of compat-f32-dejavu-sans-fonts-2.37-7.fc32.noarch and
widelands-0-0.76.build20.fc32.x86_64

attempted installs of compat-f32-dejavu-sans-fonts-2.37-7.fc32.noarch and
widelands-0-0.76.build20.fc32.x86_64

Since rpm can't replace the symlink, it's now trying to install the
included files into the system fonts directory instead of in the
widelands one.

...Why is the 'widelands' package bundling fonts?

Given that they're in an i18n directory, I assume it's trying make sure
it has sufficient font coverage for different languages. Also, the
widelands special font is in there as well. I don't see why they
couldn't be split out though.

That's not a Fedora package... You might need to remove it temporarily.

I added blueproximity to fedora-obsolete-packages now for F32 and rawhide.

Did you reset the modules?

sudo dnf module reset '*'

I am asking because I forgot the first time I ran the command. :-)

Hi,

So, I went ahead and actually did the upgrade on three different
systems: two workstation installs and a server install. I'm happy to
report that the upgrade went through without any issues.

On F32, I seem to be hitting a qt-webengine bug, though. Abrt reported
it here:

BTW my local servlet, which is on F33, lost automounting of lvm on
mdraid home

Makes systemd unit crazy, it forgets about user units, and refuses to
acknowledge them even after /home is remounted manually.

(this may or may not be the same thing, F32 & 33 have not diverged too
far yet)

systemd (well, udev, which is part of systemd these days). It should be
done by /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/60-persistent-storage.rules , which is
part of systemd-udev. I wonder if it's possibly an issue that that runs

Re: Donate 1 minute of your time to test upgrades from F31 to F32

2020-03-06 Thread jeandet
Hello,

I did an upgrade last week, with:
sudo dnf system-upgrade download --refresh --releasever=32
Except for modules everything was ok on my laptop, but I got some
issues on my desktop.
On my laptop, from fc32 running:
sudo dnf module reset '*'
sudo dnf --releasever=32 --setopt=module_platform_id=platform:f32 \
--enablerepo=updates-testing --enablerepo=updates-testing-modular \
distro-sync
did solve the modules warnings.

On my desktop:

"/dev/disk/by-uuid" wasn't and still isn't populated with soft raid
volumes, I had to change fstab to point to /dev/mdXXXpX to mount my
home and other needed folders. From cockpit it also says "Unrecognized
Data" for all my mdraid partitions.

I didn't have time to investigate more, so I jump into this mail to ask
against which package should I report a bug? I have no idea who fills
"/dev/disk/by-uuid".

Best regards,
Alexis.

This looks like yet another problem with modules. With no modules
involved, this update works just fine. You can install scala, jacop,
mp, and the coin-or packages in an F32 mock chroot, for example. But
somehow modules are preventing scala from being installed or updated.

I have updated python-setuptools (both py2 and py3) in F31.

If you care, we can update python2-setuptools in F32 as well (I don't care
enough). It is fixable (to ~0 benefit).

I have modular repos disabled on my systems, so I'm not getting any
upgrade issues related to that.
But there are a few package downgrades that are actual issues:

Downgrading:
 firefox x86_64 72.0.2-3.fc32
firefox 73.0.1 indeed is missing from f32+, but I think this is a known issue.

 java-1.8.0-openjdk x86_64 1:1.8.0.242.b06-0.0.ea.fc32
 java-1.8.0-openjdk-develx86_64 1:1.8.0.242.b06-0.0.ea.fc32
 java-1.8.0-openjdk-headless x86_64 1:1.8.0.242.b06-0.0.ea.fc32
This OpenJDK update seems to be missing from f32+ as well ...

 libarchive x86_64 3.4.0-2.fc32
This seems to be fixed by an update in updates-testing.

 openblasx86_64 0.3.7-2.fc32
 openblas-Rblas x86_64 0.3.7-2.fc32
 openblas-threadsx86_64 0.3.7-2.fc32
This is also fixed by an update in updates-testing.

 pciutilsx86_64 3.6.3-2.fc32
 pciutils-libs x86_64 3.6.3-2.fc32
This is missing an update for fedora 32 - 3.6.4 was built for f31+,
but no update for f32 was created.
See:
https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates/FEDORA-2020-875081b2ba#comment-1265859

 python2-setuptools noarch 41.2.0-2.fc32
This is also a downgrade, without an update on fedora 32. But probably
unfixable since newer versions of setuptools don't support python2, I
think.

Those are exactly the 'problems' we're trying to detect, though. Python
2 packages don't just go away by magic, unless you pass --allow-erasing
, which can potentially lead to things being removed you didn't
actually want to be removed. They ought to be obsoleted properly. The
reason Miroslav is asking people to run these commands is to identify
packages - including Python 2 packages - which *should* be properly
obsoleted but are not, among other issues.

When I looked at them, there were a lot of python2 problems. Since it

After a dnf module reset, this now upgrades cleanly.

After dnf module reset, it's a lot cleaner. python3-PyRSS2Gen is the
only real problem here:

With 'dnf module reset' this is a lot cleaner. dispcalGUI was snagged
from OBS, so not a fedora problem.

This should be solved by
  dnf module reset '*'
did you run this command? It was mentioned in the first email.

Er, sorry, to be clear here I mean that python3-foo can obsolete
python2-foo. Not that python3 can obsolete python2-foo.

Something should obsolete them. Depending on circumstances and packager
preferences that could be the python3 package or fedora-obsolete-
packages, but all retired packages (including all script-retired
python2 packages) need to be obsoleted by *something*.

This is fairly common during freezes; if someone submits an update to
F30/F31/F32 it can go stable for F30 and F31 but not for F32 due to the
freeze. So it's not unusual for things to get 'ahead' in the stable
releases while the branched release is frozen.

Since upgrades use distro-sync these days it's not really something to
worry about.

(Additionally, for Firefox, F32 and F33 builds have been failing for
several days, but a successful F32 build just happened today. There is
a proposed FE for getting it into the Beta.)

The stix-fonts package got rid of the stix-math-fonts package at some
point. So, a texlive rebuild would probably fix the dep error unless
it's an explicit Requires which will require a spec tweak?

Dunno about the other maven and modular bits.

Re: Donate 1 minute of your time to test upgrades from F31 to F32

2020-03-04 Thread Ian McInerney
What is supposed to happen with any packages that depend on python2 that
are currently installed on the system? I know that the actual packages have
been retired since python2 is retired now, but currently DNF is blocking
the upgrade of the system (not just marking them for removal).

Here are the three errors I get:

Problem 2: package exaile-4.0.0-3.fc31.noarch requires python2-dbus, but
none of the providers can be installed
  - python2-dbus-1.2.8-6.fc31.x86_64 does not belong to a distupgrade

python2-newt, but none of the providers can be installed

repository
  - problem with installed package
system-config-keyboard-1.4.0-18.fc31.noarch
Problem 5: package wxPython-devel-3.0.2.0-26.fc31.noarch requires
python2-wxpython = 3.0.2.0-26.fc31, but none of the providers can be
installed
  - python2-wxpython-3.0.2.0-26.fc31.x86_64 does not belong to a

I did not get any errors (stopped before letting it do the

This command does not replace `dnf system-upgrade`, but it will reveal

upgrade` before running this command.

you can answer N and nothing happens, no need to test the actual upgrade.

But very likely you get some dependency problem now. In that case, please

There is also:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1804305
moby-engine does not obsolete proper version of docker, upgrading to Fedora 32
is blocked

And of course internal Red Hat tools (like rhpkg) blow up as always.

 Problem: package moodbar-0.1.2-19.fc29.x86_64 requires
libgstbase-0.10.so.0()(64bit), but none of the providers can be installed
  - package moodbar-0.1.2-19.fc29.x86_64 requires
libgstreamer-0.10.so.0()(64bit), but none of the providers can be installed
  - gstreamer-0.10.36-24.fc31.x86_64 does not belong to a distupgrade repository
  - problem with installed package moodbar-0.1.2-19.fc29.x86_64

Removed moodbar and next try was fine.
