 Yes.

Hi,

The wiki page Upgrading_Fedora_using_yum have instructions that we
should know and do, in every type of upgrade .

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upgrading_Fedora_using_yum#3._Clean_Stuff
we should do this in any case .

and
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Upgrading_Fedora_using_yum#6._Preparing_for_reboot
this link in others method of upgrades should be in case of boot fails
and btw how prepare a rescue mode:
http://www.serjux.com/freedos_boot/Create-a-bootable-rescue.txt

Other thing, that could be not ready for F18 release, but is important
in my point of view is fedup-cli works on F16 ...

Thanks,

Because in python it would be longer and more complicated. For example
'set -e' saved me lots of if-loop and exceptions handling.

And I wanted to have requirements very minimal.
While bash has some limits, I did not even approached those limits and I
do not expect it will limit me in near future.

I want upgrade my computer

2012-11-29 Thread Sérgio Basto
Hi,
I have two machines for test on at home and one at office , I want
upgrade to F18 Beta .

1 - Try Preupgrade but No preupgrade for F17-F18 ?
http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/test/2012-August/109441.html

http://lists.fedoraproject.org/pipermail/devel/2012-November/173805.html
Why this was disabled
And what happen if I ignore preupgrade-ok=False

2 - boot.iso, no boot.iso on
http://mirrors.eu.kernel.org/fedora/development/18/x86_64/os/images/
I try one boot.iso from F18 Beta RC1 and understand why is not there ,
because doesn't work .

3 - Fedup , gives me a Traceback on transaction test. And don't let me
upgrade .

4- use yum but I have bad memories from FC2 about use yum for upgrade

5- Live iso don't have option to upgrade

So what you advise me to upgrade my systems ?

Thanks in advance

I had two machines updated using yum and although it is not a
recommended it worked without any problems.

Before going that route you should take a look into

On a humorous note citing bad memories from FC2 seems a really
_outdated_ excuse. :-)

Either use yum or wait for a bug fix for your issue with fedup. (Note that
if you don't file a bug, it is less likely to get fixed.)

I had pretty good success last week (Before F18 Beta) trying the
procedure described on

Some small hick-ups, but nothing really serious.

Yeah, preupgrade won't work at all for 17 - 18. At some point before
release, the preupgrade package should be obsoleted in F17+ but that
hasn't happened yet.

Can you file a bug or provide more details? The debug log would also be

As a side note, the test list is probably a better place to be
discussing upgrade issues for Fedora 18.
