This brought to mind a tangential thought. It's too bad that when
version updates break backwards compatibility, that the software isn't
renamed. It's not like there is a shortage of letters. Then, the two
versions could be installed in parallel, and those that can't be
updated could still be accessed with the old version. Migration
wouldn't need to be an all or nothing thing, but could be a gradual
shift.

I thought something like
pythoo, pythop, pythoq, etc.
or
pythpn, pythqn, pythrn, etc.

Or, now for something completely different,
parrot. Or defunct. Or gastric. Or bflsplk.

Maybe for python4 this will happen.

And now, back to your regular programming.

Our version of this is very old. The current upstream version looks
closer to being buildable, but requires the 'smart_open' library, which
isn't packaged for Fedora yet. I'm not really interested in packaging
that just to fix this, given that nothing else in the distro depends on
gensim, AFAICT.

This one needed some pandoc packages rebuilt. I have done all of that,
and the python-deap build basically works now (and I enabled the test
suite for it too), but my Rawhide build failed because of a critical
bug in in matplotlib on ppc64 causing the -doc subpackage to not be
identical on all arches, which koji treats as a build fail:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1411070
https://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=827137

Fixing the matplotlib bug on ppc64 is a bit beyond me, help from ppc64
experts would be welcome.

I sent an email about this one the other day. It's been abandoned
upstream for many years and both the things we package that used it
(python-acme and certbot) have stopped doing so upstream. I've updated
both those packages not to use it any more, so it could simply be
retired now.

want to ask the arch teams. It passes on x86_64, i686 and armv7hl. This
still happens with the latest upstream release, 0.4.13:

texlive is *built*, but there's a koji problem with getting it tagged:

this also prevents us building cantor.

A lot of the oslo bits also ultimately depend on python-hacking , which
I've been bashing my head on all day. I've mostly managed to adapt the
goddamn thing to flake8 3.x, but one significant feature of it cannot
possibly work with flake8 3.x. I'm going to send through a build with
my best efforts, and file some upstream issues.

The 'gettext' FTBFS is not related only to Python 3.6 tag [1, FWIW, still
without answer]. Once I resolve those issues, am I expected to build the
package against both 'f26' and (with bumped version) 'f26-python3' targets?
When do you expect merging 'f26-python3' into f26?
