There are some new subpackages (and some old ones went away), but
since every package had the release value bumped, this is expected.

That process is long gone and dead. The only process we have now is if
you want to add a new lab/spin you just use the Change process.

I attempted to setup a process that required each spin to have a test at
beta and final or be dropped, but it was added after beta that cycle, so
we didn't do it then, and the next cycle a number of spins/labs failed
to compose at beta for reasons beyond the owners control, so it sort of
just got dropped. ;(

We may want to revisit this, or at least drop any lab/spin that doesn't
have a listed 'owner' (since we now have that in file).

Well, this isn't exactly hitting a size "limit", it is exceeding the
space available in the filesystem used for the live image build
process. To avoid this problem without reducing the size of the deps
pulled in, you would need to bump the value here:

https://pagure.io/fedora-kickstarts/blob/master/f/fedora-live-python-classroom.ks#_11

the limit on the size of the image that is ultimately produced is a
different thing.

Both constraints are 'artificial' in some sense: as you can see we can
control the size of the filesystem used during the compose process in
the kickstart, and the "maximum" size of the final image is purely a
policy choice, it is at the discretion of the group that 'owns' the
deliverable. The current max size for Classroom Lab is 2GiB per
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/32/Spins , but if the Python
SIG wants it to be higher for F33, all you really need to do is edit it
at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/33/Spins when that page
exists (paging Ben!) and file an issue on relval for me to update it
there (relval runs the automated check on image sizes which will file a
bug if the image is oversize):
https://pagure.io/fedora-qa/relval/issues

there is, IIRC, supposed to be a 'spin review' process we go through
every release which should be run by the spin wrangler and that is
where max size changes are supposed to be done, but I don't think we've
had a spin wrangler or actually done that process for several releases.
So in lieu of that, I've just been telling people the above.

Perhaps graphite2 generates a .tex file as part of the process? I'd have to
look at it to figure it out. Can you please open a bug on the 300+ package
increase with the specifics so I can figure out what (if anything) I can do
to remedy this?

Hi Tom,

It looks like the texlive 2020 update broke graphite2 builds somehow ...

According to koschei, the graphite2 BuildRequires now pull in *about
300 more (tex + perl) packages than before the 2020 update*, which is
slightly concerning?
See: https://koschei.fedoraproject.org/build/8369713

Also, the build now fails with "! LaTeX Error: File `hanging.sty' not
found.". graphite2 sources do not contain any .tex files, but
graphite2 uses LaTeX / pdf output when building documentation / manual
with doxygen, so I'm pretty sure the transitive dependency on
`tex(hanging)` is missing somewhere else?

The error seems to be caused by latex missing file
/usr/share/texlive/texmf-dist/tex/latex/amscls/amsthm.sty. When I
manually install texlive-amscls which provides this file,
everything is fine and the command mentioned above works.

The strange thing is that when I install python3-matplotlib from

it's probably a new dependency somewhere.

Do you know what might cause this?

Interesting, I know sometimes mock produces different results from Koji but
I wouldn't expect it in this case. I did both with and without
--enablerepo=local and tried again after a --scrub=all, with the same
result.

are older than the ones currently in the koji buildroot), but a koji

It's probably not the same bug, that error is a fairly generic error

Re: TeXLive 2020 landing in rawhide

2020-05-20 Thread Tom Callaway
Richard,

I've got a PR for you that adds your explicit tex BuildRequires so that
this works again:
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/OpenColorIO/pull-request/1

Upstream TeXLive sometimes moves .sty files around, so in most cases, it is
easier to specify BuildRequires using the "tex(requirement.sty)" Provides.
If your package has a .tex file, look for the \usepackage{foo} lines, those
are your tex dependencies. And in some cases, those dependencies may be met
by local .sty files, so if you can't find a package in Fedora texlive that
Provides: tex(foo.sty), look for foo.sty in your package source. (It also
could be legitimately missing in Fedora, I'm clearly not perfect!)

Thanks,
Tom

There is - we can disable the failing test in biber to get it built.
But we're running into very strange behavior in koji that I'd really
like to try to track down first if possible.

At this point I get:

nothing provides biber >= 2.14 needed by texlive-biblatex

This will interfere with Python 3.9 rebuilds. We plan to start those in Koji
this week.

Is there an emergency break to pull?

I'm hoping that when texlive is able to fully install this issue will go
away. I just got a successful build for -21 that _should_ resolve all the
broken deps except for biber.

I'm working on trying to fix the biber failure.  It's an odd one that I
cannot reproduce locally in mock.  What I've been able to determine is
that is appears that the "ls-R" files are not present in the koji
buildroots for some reason.  Perhaps this is an arch dependent thing
since I seem to be landing on armv7 builders all the time.

Well, it fails on an x86 builder as well so that's not it. I think
we're going to need to remove the stderr redirects and maybe add some
debugging in the scriptlets that build the ls-R files to try to see
what's failing there. But I think I'll leave this to others.

TeXLive 2020 landing in rawhide

I've just kicked off new builds for texlive and texlive-base for TeXLive
2020 in rawhide. Hopefully, everything that depends on them will continue
to work, but if you notice any new issues generating docs (or any missing
components or broken dependencies), feel free to email me or open Bugzilla

Thanks,

P.S. I have no plans to push this update to any stable branches, but if you
really want the TL2020 magic, I'm running the F33 packages on my F32 system
without issue.
