They are all the same method,
so all affected in the same way.

Unaffected are deployments with unlocked laptops, their own activation
server or deployment keys.

Once the service is restored, all laptop owners who need one should
ensure they have a developer key, so that they do not depend on the
service.

Deployments without their own keys who still need anti-theft software
should consider making keys.

Developer Keys delayed?

Just a warning it appears activation & developer keys for XO laptops are
currently being delayed due to the failure of owl.laptop.org, also
affecting http://download.laptop.org since Friday Nov 6.

Certainly the self-service site https://activation.laptop.org/devkey/post/
is currently offline.  Hopefully someone can clarify if other methods of
obtaining a http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Developer_keys are also affected?

(OLPC's undoubtedly working hard on restoring service, and will let us know
when an ETA is later available, please be patient..)
