Re: [Server-devel] [XSCE] activation server feature XSCE 5.0

2014-07-21 Thread German Ruiz - FundacionZT
I found the problem:

i just had to add the following configuration to lan interface
configuration file, which in my case is
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-p2p1

# The actrd initramfs tries to connect to the server on 172.18.0.1 to
request
# activation. Retain this old/deprecated address binding for compatibility.
IPADDR2=172.18.0.1
NETMASK2=255.255.255.0

and thenexecute /etc/sysconfig/olpc-scripts/setup.d/xs-activation

and the activations works fine...

2014-07-04 16:31 GMT-06:00 James Cameron qu...@laptop.org:

I haven't heard of any XSCE deployments that wish to use the OLPC
security system at the same time, so you are probably the first to
 try.

I think the next step in diagnosis will be to find out what the XO
does during the activation step, find out how XS-0.7 implements this,
and ensure XSCE does as well.

[Server-devel] activation server feature XSCE 5.0

2014-07-04 Thread German Ruiz - FundacionZT

Hello

I'm trying to configure a server based on XSCE 5.0, one of the things that
i want to set up is the

xs-activation

[0]

feature, is this supported on XSCE

5.0?

1. Install the package 'yum install xs-activation'
2. Create a lease.sig with cjson format.
3. Copy the lease.sig to the server, by scp or cp.
4. Run

'xs-activation-import /home/fzt/'

(this is

where lease.sig is placed).
5. Turn on a XO waiting for

activation, it never gets activated.

Any ideas?

SSL uses the system time, not the hardware clock, so you should use
the date command to check it.

(A misconfigured kernel on hardware with multiple RTC can show good
data from hwclock, but bad data using the date command.)

However, hwclock usually shows the offset between the RTC and the
system time, and the offset you show is very small, so my guess is
that the problem is not the system time.

[Server-devel] Initial configuration for XSCE 5.0

2014-02-06 Thread German Ruiz - FundacionZT
Hi

I'm trying XSCE 5.0 on a pc box today

Hardware: Clon PC - 1 TB HDD, 2 NIC, 2 RAM GB.
Fedora 18 - 32 bits, minimal install.
i want to use this as a internet gateway at schools.

The configuration that i followed was:
cd ~/
git clone https://github.com/XSCE/xsce
cd xsce
./runansible
reboot

I have a few questions about the configuration, we configure our XS in
Nicaragua like this:

- Set hostname.
On XS 0.7 was
# xs-setup schoolserver.escuela.managua.fzt.org
# reboot
On XSCE?

- Set static IP for WAN.
On XS 0.7 was:
edit this template /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1.
On XSCE?

- Configure DHCP to disable internet access to non xo laptops.
i founf this [0], which is similar to our configuration.

- Set DNS forwarders - to openDNS
edit this config file /etc/named-xs.conf.in and set the dns forwarders
{208.67.222.222; 208.67.220.220;};
i found this[1], but when i want to run the command xs-domain-config, this
is missing.

Thank you for all your help.

Image for XO 1.75 Nicaragua

2012-02-08 Thread German Ruiz
Hi Martin

Right now i'm working on the image for the XO 1.75 to Nicaragua using
OS Builder on XO hardware that OLPC send me, i have a few questions
for the process.

Flash Support: For now this module doesn't work on ARM, there is no
flash plugin package for ARM in the adobe repo, so, what i did was to
add the Gnash repo at the [repo_section], and install the gnash
preview package gnash-0.8.10-0.1.git.master21509.armv7l, i'm going to
test it today.
Is there any chance to have Adobe flash plugin on 1.75 that we can
test and choose which package use in the final build, gnash or
adobe-flash-plugin?

Relase for 11.3.1: For now i'm using the development version of
os-builder from git, when would be the release for 11.3.1, so we can
use as base to create the final build?

Deadline: The last day to send the final image to you, and what files
do you need?

Any other suggestion to know for the process

Re: [Server-devel] openVPN on the XS

2012-02-01 Thread German Ruiz
Hi Sameer

Here in Nicaragua at Fundación Zamora Terán, we are using openVPN on
XS in client mode, and the openVPN Server is on the main office on a
Centos 5.7 server, because on some school we have a 3G Modem
Connection behind a proxy server at ISP, with the VPN tunnel, we can
access on to XS by ssh and put content, monitoring the XS with Nagios.

And also we redirect the all dns queries on this way:
1. XO(172.18.96.1)
2. XS(172.18.0.1)-(10.8.0.11)
3. openVPNServer(10.8.0.1)
4. openDNS(208.67.222.222)

For now that is the way that we use openVPN with XS.

this (fzt_f14-xo.15-1-ini):

after a few minutes building the custom images, the output was:

- os9.zd4 size: 569.9 MB
- the firmware version: Q3B13
- the total time installing the new images on XO 1.5 for testing with the
command fs-update u:\os9.zd4: 00:04:46

after that, next step was to verify all the activities: we just open and
close one activity by one...

- maze and stopwatch didn't work: Maze falló al iniciar
- speak, when we open the the activity, the voice is of sarah is english,
like if sarah is reading in spanish the welcome text: ... type
something...

that's all for now, we are going to test all the features in next days...

Re: [Server-devel] Dansguardian on XS

2011-04-04 Thread German Ruiz
En 3 escuelas acá e Nicaragua tienen conexión a internet por un modem
3G (Huawei
3G E968 Wireless
Gateway)http://www.diytrade.com/china/4/products/5551858/3G_wireless_gateway.html,
cuando me conecto a internet, y quiero registrar la IP pública en openDNS,
siempre me sale que la IP es 190.212.80.224 ó 190.212.80.225, de igual
manera cuando me conecto desde mi laptop con un modem ZTE
MF626http://3g-modem.wetpaint.com/page/ZTE+MF626 siempre

Saludos

nandblaster on XO 1.5

2010-07-31 Thread German Ruiz
Today here in Nicaragua i downloaded the latest firmware q3a47 and try the
nandblaster, here my experiences

i have 2 xo 1.5, they have installed the q3a47 firmware, and also we try the
latest image for XO 1.5 os303.zd...

the first step that i made was go to the ok promt (at the XO server) and
type nb-tx u:\os303.zd and i get the next message

max transmit speed: (congestion dependent)
channel: 1 marvel-get-mac-address failed

???
i don't know what it does it mean..

then i turn off the XO server, and try again

nb-tx u:\os303.zd

and... it works, the other XO 1.5 client takes 40 minutes to copy and
install the image...

so we are happy for nandblaster

thanks...

Re: [Server-devel] Agregar Desktop a mi red Escolar

2010-04-30 Thread German Ruiz
Hi Reuben i am using a static ip address from this range
172.18.126.0/24, but i can't access to internet, if i use dynamic ip,
the xs server give me a ip from this range

 pool {
 range  172.18.125.1 172.18.125.254;
 deny members of internet;
}

a i still can't acces to internet

 German,

What are you assigning for static IP values on the Desktop?

 Martin,

He is using a match rule granting only IPs with XO MAC addresses (now
queue Wad yelling, DON'T DO THAT :-)

(Although I don't think his allow and deny rules will do what he wants
 given the subnetting)
