Re: [support-gang] What Would I Need To Learn???

2013-10-14 Thread Nicholas Doiron
I hear good things about AppInventor

http://appinventor.mit.edu

I never learned to create apps because most of my projects are on the web.
Not the best solution for offline / developing world schools, but if you
get started with HTML, you then can develop a PhoneGap app to contain the
content offline.

Re: [support-gang] XO brightness key operation

2012-04-09 Thread Nicholas Doiron
Is there a way to read the current value of the 1.75's ambient light
sensor? It'd be neat if that could be displayed by an activity.

Re: [Health] Pulse Sensor: an Open Source Heart-rate Sensor that Rocks by Yury Gitman — Kickstarter

2011-07-20 Thread Nicholas Doiron
Hey, this does look like a cool sensor for us to add.

The sensor likely will expect 3-5V of power like the Arduino provides (so,
USB power for us). Depending on how they've set it up, there might be some
logic beyond just the sensor input. If you are using an Arduino, you can add
a wire communicating back to the Measure activity through the microphone
input.

Re: [IAEP] Google Art Project

2011-02-03 Thread Nicholas Doiron

Hi Caryl,

Can you check if Flash is working and Gnash (the XO's free alternative to
Flash) is uninstalled?

If Flash is working on the 1.5, you should be able to view YouTube videos.

If you haven't uninstalled Gnash, which can interfere with Flash, it's
described in the same article on the wiki, and on the last step of
http://wiki.laptop.org/go/User:Ndoiron/MediaGuide
