Thanks for the prompt response. Regarding media-sound/pithos, I haven't tried the version in the main portage tree because the submitted ebuild has been working quite nicely without issue. Since you have migrated to using the ones provided by the main portage tree, I'll submit any further issues to bugs.gentoo.org.
Regarding pipelight, let me know how it goes. I thought my new ebuild was superior to the previous because it handles plugins in a more generic and modular fashion. I have found a slight issue regarding the x64-* plugins and will keep you apprised to the fix for it when I finish talking to upstream about it. Thanks again for your time.
