Hi,

have a look at the existing pebble daemon.

Cheers!

In fact, no. Currently, wine depends on libx11. So i don't think
even arm application will run.

Re: [SailfishDevel] Sideload Native App To Sailfish

2014-02-04 Thread A. Wickert
You don't need the developermode to install RPMs. You can install RPMs
easily from the FileManager.

On 05/02/14 08:18, christopher.l...@thurweb.ch wrote:

No rooting (or jailbreaking) pr verboten-hacks required.

Just put the phone into developer mode. In theory any user can do this
with a few clicks.

Then you can install anything that will run.

However this route does imply that the user has some idea of what they
are doing, just a a user installing on a Linux desktop will need some
idea as well. It might not be a route for a stereotypical grandma.

Hi All,

I have what I imagine to be a very common problem:

1. There will be billions of people who own smartphones.

2.   I have a 100% native Linux C++ app that I would like a few
of those

billions of people to use. These are my future customers.

3. I do not necessarily want to use an app store of any kind, if I
choose not to use any.

4. I would like for my customers to decide, at their own
discretion,
whether to side-load my native app onto their smartphone by going to
my web

site, and not an app store.

5. I would like to avoid having my customers call my
tech-support line

and listen on the phone for 30 minutes as one of my tech-support
representatives tells him/her how to root their phone so that they can
side-load my app.

In other words, I would like the same situation that exists now under
the
desktop model, where anyone who owns a desktop computer has full
discretion
of what they do with their computer, without (significant)
restrictions from

the OS vendor.

I understand that Jolla allows 100% true native C++ apps, but I was
unable

to determine, with a quick search on the WWW, whether Jolla allows 100%
native C++ apps under the acquisition model above.

Can anyone clarify? Is it true that the owner of a Jolla smartphone
will be

able to determine for himself/herself whether to side-load a third-party
native application without jumping through hoops to bypass restrictions
created by the OS?

Regards,

-Nut

Re: [SailfishDevel] [Update] Changelog for SailfishOS update 2 (1.0.2.5)

2013-12-27 Thread A. Wickert
If you have upgraded mail client do not close the store until upgrade
went through. Because the old store-client does not work with new
jolla-settings-accounts :-/. And if you have not enabled developer mode
only reset to factory helps.

Fantastic! Hopefully I can start using the built in email client now. Until
now authentication hasn't worked with my smtp server.

At the moment I can see the store updates but not the systems upgrade. All
store upgrades except for android and clock went through even before the
systems upgrade though. How does one force checking for the update from the
shell?

[SailfishDevel] Battery life without The other half Daemon running

2013-12-23 Thread A. Wickert

Hi everybody,

I read this article today:
http://reviewjolla.blogspot.com/2013/12/jolla-battery-life-power-consumption.html

And now I trying to measure the difference with tohd on and off. I am
using powertop to get the amount of power consumed by the phone.

- With tohd on, wlan on, screen off, logged in via SSH - 982mW
- With tohd off, wlan on, screen off, logged in via SSH - 552mW

This is a great difference I think.

Best regards,
Annika

Re: [SailfishDevel] Battery life without The other half Daemon running

2013-12-23 Thread A. Wickert
I have currently 80% battery left after 12 hours of usage (wlan always
on, 1 hour BT Audio streaming to car, browsing the web, check for mails
every 15min and Twitter connected). Before disabling tohd the day before
I was at 45% battery after the same amount of usage.

So it works very good :).

Hii sailors,

Thanks for the instructions on how to stop/disable TOH-daemon in dev-mode.
Works perfectly, and I'm now testing how much it affecrs the battery-life (in
comparison to covering the NFC-tag with foil).

I saw that someone was using powertop to monitor power consumption, but how
do.you install it? Couldn't find it with pkcon..

Thanks for any info,

[SailfishDevel] Share via EMail - Bug or works as expected?

2013-12-22 Thread A. Wickert

Hi,

I have multiple mail clients set up and I tried to share some pictures
via Share - Email. It creates a new email with the last account set
up and i cannot select another one.

I expected that I can select an email account from which the mail would
be sent in the Share dialog or set a default account from which emails
should be shared but both is not possible. So I deleted the email
account which I wanted to have for default and readded it so it becomes
the last one added. And now SailfishOS sends from this account.

In future I wish to select a account on each sharing or set a default
account in Settings - Accounts.

Best regards,
Annika
