submitting apps to the Jolla Harbour

If you add the early access repository into your SDK and have an older beta

Build Targets for several older Sailfish OS releases remain available. Please
see below for detailed information of the changes.

A couple of things you should be aware of:
- As before, in this update the Build Engine, Emulator and Targets are
reinstalled so you will lose all changes you may have made in those - However,
if your application packaging is done correctly, rebuilding your projects
should reinstall the packages you have been using.
- Any customization done to SDK (adding new package repositories, adding custom
Targets, additional source paths) will be removed during the installation
process so make your own backup of those before starting the update.
- If you import existing projects made with a previous version of the Sailfish
OS SDK, make sure to select the correct kit in the project configuration step.
Both ARM and i486 kits are available.
- Package repository contents have been updated and consequently using a
previous SDK version with these package repositories is not supported.

if your application packaging is done correctly, rebuilding your projects
should reinstall the packages you have been using.
- For more information, please see the Application SDK known issues list at
https://sailfishos.org/wiki/Application_SDK_Known_Issues.

Re: [SailfishDevel] SDK version 1611 (2.0.5) is released to all users

2016-11-30 Thread Jarkko Lehtoranta
Hello,

Today (Nov 30th) at 17:00 UTC a new release of the Sailfish OS SDK has been
made available to all users. This SDK release is called 1611 and it matches
Jolla Release 2.0.5.

The installers for this release of the SDK are available at
http://sailfishos.org/wiki/Application_SDK#Latest_SDK_Release. If you have an
older beta release of the SDK, you should see an update notification [1] in the
SailfishOS IDE.

#
[1] Please note, that due to a bug in 1609 and 1609-1 SDK releases, you will
not automatically see the update notification. If you're using either of those
releases, you have to manually check for updates by starting the
SDKMaintenanceTool from the Sailfish OS SDK installation directory.
#

SDK content matches Jolla Release 2.0.5.6 (Haapajoki). Please see below for
detailed information of the changes.

[SailfishDevel] SDK version 1611 (2.0.5) is released to Early Access

2016-11-23 Thread Jarkko Lehtoranta
Hello,

Today (Nov 23rd) at 13:00 UTC we have published new installers and repositories
of the Sailfish OS SDK. This SDK release is called 1611 and it matches Jolla
Release 2.0.5.

Please, read the following notes about the Early Access SDK:
- By using the Early Access SDK developers can test their Sailfish OS apps a
week before the Sailfish OS release is made public
- During the early access time the Early Access SDK should not be used for
submitting apps to the Jolla Harbour
- The installers for this release of the SDK are available at
http://sailfishos.org/wiki/Application_SDK_Early_Access#Latest_Early_Access_SDK_Release
- Instructions for adding the early access repository into the SDK can be found
from
http://sailfishos.org/wiki/Application_SDK_Early_Access#Receiving_Early_Access_SDK_Updates_Automatically

If you add the early access repository into your SDK and have an older beta
release of the SDK, you should see an update notification [1] in the Sailfish
OS IDE. Otherwise, you will see an update notification [1] in the Sailfish OS
IDE, when the Jolla Release 2.0.5 is publicly available to all users.

Could you provide a few more details about your issue:

- did this happen during deployment to device or to the emulator
- have you tried both emulator and device deployment, does one of
them work

- if you create a new sample project, does it build and deploy properly

There's a red exclamation mark, because the device type for the
MerSDK-SailfishOS-armv7hl kit should be Mer ARM Device and not Mer
Emulator Device. With your current settings, when using the armv7hl kit,
the SDK tries to deploy an arm package to the Emulator, which obviously
fails. So, please try again after choosing the Emulator device for the
i486 kit and the ARM device for the armv7hl kit.

If that doesn't solve your issue, close the QtCreator and remove the
SailfishBetaX user config folders from ~/.config/. Now, when you launch
Qt Creator again, it will copy a clean config template to the user
config directory.

[SailfishDevel] Sailfish OS SDK 1504 update available now

2015-05-05 Thread Jarkko Lehtoranta

Hello again,

Today (May 5th) at 13:00 UTC we have published new installers and
repositories of the Sailfish OS SDK.

The installers for this release of the SDK are available at
http://www.sailfishos.org. If you have an older beta release of the SDK,
you should see an update notification in the SailfishOS IDE.

SDK content has been updated to match Jolla Release 1.1.4.29
(Äijänpäivänjärvi). Please see below for detailed information of the
changes.

A couple of things you should be aware of:
- As before, in this update the build engine, emulator and targets are
reinstalled so you will lose all changes you may have made in those -
However, if your application packaging is done correctly, rebuilding
your projects should reinstall the packages you have been using.
- Any customization done to SDK (adding new package repositories, adding
custom targets, additional source paths) will be removed during the
installation process so make your own backup of those before starting
the update.
- If you import existing projects made with a previous version of the
Sailfish OS SDK, make sure to select the correct kit in the project
configuration step. Both ARM and i486 kits are available.
- Package repository contents have been updated and consequently using a
previous SDK version with these package repositories is not supported.
- Supported host platforms can be found from:
https://sailfishos.org/develop/sdk-overview/sdk-release-notes/

- For more information, please see the SDK Beta-Qt5 known issues list
at: https://sailfishos.org/develop/sdk-overview/sdk-beta-qt5-known-issues/.

SDK IDE (Qt Creator):
- Updated Sailfish Silica help documentation and examples

SDK Build engine:
- Build targets refreshed to Jolla release 1.1.4.29 level

Emulator:
- Emulator packages refreshed to Jolla release 1.1.4.29 level

Harbour/Rpmvalidator:
- Rpmvalidator allows now QtPositioning (C++ and QML APIs),
qt5-qtdeclarative-import-sensors and
qt5-qtmultimedia-plugin-audio-pulseaudio. Harbour Store QA will start to
accept submissions with these libraries from tomorrow 06. May onwards.

Re: [SailfishDevel] Update on SailfishOS roadmap

2015-02-16 Thread Jarkko Lehtoranta
Tablet support will be provided in the SDK at some point and it will
include a possibility to test your apps in the tablet screen size as
well as other features from the new UI framework. In the mean time, if
you're interested in a hack, you can try changing the emulator
resolution manually by using vboxmanage in the terminal:
1. Get a list of the Virtualbox VMs and copy the UUID of the SailfishOS
Emulator: vboxmanage list vms
2. Write down the current resolution: vboxmanage getextradata UUID
CustomVideoMode1
3. Set a new resolution: vboxmanage setextradata UUID CustomVideoMode1
720x960x32

- I'm using a smaller resolution with the tablet aspect ratio as an
example, but you can obviously use the native resolutions also:
1536x2048x32 for the tablet and 540x960x32 for the phone

- I suggest testing only portrait resolutions for the moment
- The scaling of the UI components etc. might change in the future

I am wondering how our applications would look like on the new tablet.
Is there a way to modify the current Jolla phone emulator to use the

Hi all,

Here is an update on our progress from the past month. Do note that
they are all work in progress and not release ready for another few
months.

* Tablet hardware adaptation is nearly ready for MWC
 - USB charging, stereo speakers, sensors, accelerometer, Bluetooth,
WLAN functionalities have been verified

* Work on the new UI framework is progressing at a good pace
 - lock screen has been separated from the homescreen
 - improved notifications with visual grouping and additional actions
 - events view with a richer user experience
 - improved home screen interactions and transitions
 - new swipe edge transition

* Lock screen media player controls implemented for the native media
player app, under review
https://together.jolla.com/question/3414/control-music-from-the-lock-screen/

* IMAP idle/push support implemented
https://together.jolla.com/question/493/imap-idle-imap-push-for-the-e-mail-app/

* Landscape mode enabled in Maps

* Toolchain has been updated (upgraded to GCC 4.8, binutils 2.25,
switch to Thumb2+NEON for ARM by default, march=i686 and SSE2
minimum for X86) and will take into effect with update13; expect a
huge download size for the update

* Dual-stack support (ipv4 and ipv6) for cellular connectivity in
the middleware

* Update to GStreamer 1.x: souphttpstc is enabled, AAC
encoding/decoding works

* Prototyping of encrypted filesystem: This is currently on hold for
a short while due to MWC preparations
   - We have a development template to build filesystem layout on
tablet that could allow home encryption
   - Most of the real work is still ahead of us: studying if in-place
conversion can be done with changing LVM logical volumes, /var/
encryption, user application binaries and user app data encryption
and most of all placement to home instead of root, boot target for
password query

* Drop upower in favour of statefs:
 - udev is used directly to fetch power and battery temperature
information via statefs power-udev provider

 - MCE now fetches battery info from statefs

* Performance improvements:
 - Improved performance of adding items to the scenegraph,
particularly when e.g. scrolling lists
 - Pool allocator for shadow nodes in the scenegraph used to reduce
possible memory fragmentation

 - Substantially reduced the number of nodes required by the scenegraph
 - Reduced the amount of memory required by internal JS structures
 - Reduced the need to heap allocate when dealing with IR structures
 - Reduced the amount of memory required for SQLite caches

As for the next OS release, we are currently at release candidate 5
for Yliaavanlampi (update 11) and expect to have another release
candidate before we can decide on the release schedule.

For this iteration, we have two main goals:
   1. Demonstrate the new UI framework and Tablet functionality at
the Mobile World Congress, Barcelona
   2. Make the device usable in filesystem full condition to allow
the user to recover from it on her own

In addition, we have planned to work on the following:
* Tablet specific work:
 - Bluetooth audio configuration
 - Integrate microphone
 - Improve boot up and shutdown time
 - Support for OBEX FTP Bluetooth profile
 - Upgrade Bluetooth AVRCP to version 1.3
 - Check Bluetooth+WLAN coexistence
 - Verify MTP functionality
 - Performance improvements
 - Intel support for Android runtime
* Enable OpenVPN support on the OS
* Update to Facebook API 2.2
* Telepathy farstream / SIP Audio routing policy
* Bug fixing on issues related to Bluetooth sync, presence and
accounts/calDAV

* New settings options to
- display disk space used by images, media, backup, app data

I installed 1407 again and all is working fine again.

I am using windows 8.1 x64.

Maybe you know what can cause this?
Thanks!

[SailfishDevel] Sailfish OS SDK December update available now

2015-01-05 Thread Jarkko Lehtoranta

Hello again,

Today (January 5th) at 14:00 UTC we have published new installers and
repositories of the Sailfish OS SDK.

The installers for this release of the SDK are available at
http://www.sailfishos.org. If you have an older beta or alpha release of
the SDK, you should see an update notification in the SailfishOS IDE.

SDK content has been updated to match Jolla Release 1.1.1.26. Please see
below for detailed information of the changes.

- Supported host platforms can be found from:
https://sailfishos.org/beta_qt5_sdk_release_notes.html

- For more information, please see the SDK Beta-Qt5 known issues list
at: https://sailfishos.org/wiki/SDK_Beta_Qt5_Known_Issues.

SDK IDE (Qt Creator):
- Qt Creator version 3.1.2, which is the same as used in the October
opt-in release

- Updated Sailfish Silica help documentation

SDK Build engine:
- Build targets refreshed to Jolla release 1.1.1.26 level
- Updated rpmvalidator, which allows the new libraries to be used in
Store (
http://merproject.org/meetings/mer-meeting/2014/mer-meeting.2014-11-25-15.00.html
)

Emulator:
- Emulator packages refreshed to Jolla release 1.1.1.26 level

Installer / SDK Control Center:
- Several bugfixes in the updated Installer Framework

If you have any questions, feel free to either send an email to this
mailing list: mailto:devel@lists.sailfishos.org or write it up in
http://together.jolla.com and tag your issue with 'sdk'.

Happy hacking,
Jolla SDK Team

In the console I get:

VBoxManage: error: Unknown option: --portcount

I worked around it simply running the command without said options. Seems
to work just as well (I got to compile and run on the emulator), but I'll
have to test the SDK more throughly.

I forgot to add one more thing: this all applies to the latest, Beta1 SDK.
Previous versions worked out of the box. With the workaround, on Debian stable
works fine. In other distro with a newer VirtualBox I didn't get the error,
and worked fine as well.

Are the sources for the installer online? I couldn't find them in
github/sailfish-sdk. It would be a trivial patch, and a pull request would be
harder to get lost.

At the moment the installer sources are not available in a public repo.

Looks like sataportcount was used in vbox 4.3 and it was renamed to
portcount in newer versions. I'll add to the todo list to fix the
handling of this among different vbox versions.

Btw. oracle's vbox 4.3 is available for debian squeeze and wheezy via
their own repos: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads.

[SailfishDevel] Sailfish OS SDK October update available now for download

2014-10-27 Thread Jarkko Lehtoranta

Hello again,

Today (October 27) at 13:00 UTC we have published new installers for the
first Beta version of the Sailfish OS SDK.

The installers for this opt-in release of the SDK are available at
http://www.sailfishos.org.

SDK content has been updated to match Jolla Release 1.1.0.38. As the
1.1.0.38 is an opt-in release, we decided to make this version of the
SDK available only as an active download. It means you will *not* get an
update notification of this SDK version. Please see below for detailed
information of the changes.

Important things you should be aware of:
- Most of our users still use the Jolla Release 1.0.8.21 (Update 8), so
please use this SDK release primarily to fix applications not working in
Update 9 and feature testing.
- Both versions of the SDK (1410 and 1407) cannot be installed as a same
user at the same time.
- Apps that are built using this SDK release will first be tested
against Update 8 in the Harbour. In case a test fails, they will be
separately checked against Update 9, which will cause a delay in the
approval process (~ 1 Week). If you have any questions, don't hesitate
to contact developer-c...@jolla.com.
- Targets meant for this SDK release are marked with 1410/U9 in the
pre-configured targets list. These targets will not work with older SDK
releases.

A couple of other things you should be aware of:
- Supported host platforms can be found from:
https://sailfishos.org/beta_qt5_sdk_release_notes.html.

- For more information, please see the SDK Beta-Qt5 known issues list
at: https://sailfishos.org/wiki/SDK_Beta_Qt5_Known_Issues.

Upgrading Qt Creator to version 3 makes this release the first Beta
version of the SDK. Qt Creator 3 is the current live version of the
upstream Qt Creator and is thus a good platform for improving and
creating new features for the Sailfish OS SDK.

SDK IDE (Qt Creator)
- Qt Creator version updated to 3.1.2
- Fix several issues with starting and stopping the virtual machines
- Fix stopping GDB debugging session in Windows

SDK Build engine:
- Build targets refreshed to Jolla release 1.1.0.38 level.
- Qt version 5.2

Emulator:
- Emulator packages refreshed to Jolla release 1.1.0.38 level.
- Qt version 5.2

Jolla Together thread for discussion and other information:
https://together.jolla.com/question/60940/sailfish-os-sdk-update-1410-released/.

Ofono should know a number of those things.

A basic set can be queried from the command line like this:

dbus-send --system --print-reply --dest=org.ofono /ril_0
org.ofono.NetworkRegistration.GetProperties

Is there something similar to what android offers in telephony
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/telephony/package-summary.html?

There might be more high level stuff like that available, but I don't
know about that.

Cheers,

The same information is also available via the statefs system
(/run/state/namespaces/Cellular/).

Signal strength is provided by Ofono as 0-100% value. If you want to
know the RSSI in dBm, you have to convert the percentage value first to
the ETSI TS 127 007 RSSI 0-31
(http://www.etsi.org/deliver/etsi_ts/127000_127099/127007/11.08.00_60/ts_127007v110800p.pdf)
format and finally from that to dBm.
