[riot-devel] Open IoT Challenge 2.0

2015-11-16 Thread Benjamin Cabé
Hi!

Many of you will remember the first edition of the Open IoT Challenge, since
a team of RIOT developers arrived in third place [1] during the first
edition, with the watr.li project!
We are back for a second edition, with even bigger prizes this time ($3,000
for the winning team anyone? :-)), so I hope to see several projects based
on RIOT among the participants.

You can find all the details regarding the challenge at
http://iot.eclipse.org/open-iot-challenge. Just like before, the first step
is to share with us your project idea, and for that you have until next
Monday, Nov 23. A short list of up to 15 proposals will be awarded $150 to
help buy the hardware needed for your project. After this date, you will
have about 3 months to build your project since the deadline to finalize
your project is February 26 next year.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

[riot-devel] Open IoT Challenge

2015-01-08 Thread Ludwig Ortmann
Dear Developers,

The Eclipse Foundation is holding a challenge:
http://iot.eclipse.org/open-iot-challenge/

The focus is on open technology and community, so by using RIOT and
involving our fabulous community you've already half won ;)

To participate, you'd need to register until January, 17th.
The deadline for submission of the solution is February 27th.

The rules:
"""
* The challenge is open to any individual aged 18 years or older
* The solution submitted by the applicants must be a new
  solution created for this challenge
* More than one individual can participate in creating a
solution but any prize will be awarded to the key contact who
  completed the entry form
"""

The criteria:
"""
* Innovation of the solution and applicability to the application
  domain
* Completeness of solution
* Use of open standards and open source technology
* Amount of community discussion from the participant
  when they built their solution
"""

The prices:
"""
$750 gift card
$500 gift card
$250 gift card
"""

In case you have an idea for a project but hesitate to do it alone,
just ask others to join forces on the mailing lists or on the IRC.

Cheers, Ludwig
