Future of Unichrome (CLE266, CN400 etc) unichrome drivers

2005-10-13 Thread Barry Scott
I'm using the Unichrome driver with XFree86 4.5.0 and I'm hitting
problems trying to use their latest code.
BTW the code the ships in 4.5.0 is badly broken, crashes with XVIDEO is
used which is why I'm using

the newer Unichrome code.

The Unichrome folks are only focusing on Xorg support and tell me I'm on
my own with XFree86.

Does the XFree86 team have a developer that is working on VIA Unichrome
drivers? If not I fear
that I'm going to have to move to Xorg, that I do not wish to do, to get
hardware support.

I'm in the process to design a system that will traclate wire level

So you want to go the other way from rdesktop http://www.rdesktop.org/
- your user will sit in front of a Windows box and view applications
running on the linux system ?

Why not use VNC http://hwww.realvnc.com/ ?
The windows client is very small (under 300Kb), and my recollection is
that between windows machines it is at least as fast as (and probably
significantly faster than) RDP, so why use RDP between windows and
Unix ?

What problems are you hitting?
