   It's unfortunate that Metacity has that dependency.  The .so comes
with newer X-servers.  You can try to pull one out of newer X-server
packages.  I can mail you the library alone if want.

I am missing libXinerama.so.1 library in my machine. I want
to upgrade my Metacity window manager which has this library as dependency.

I do have libXinerama.a but not the .so file. Where can I get
it?

XEvIE is not available in XFree86, altough similar functionality could 
probably be implemented using XTrap and/or XTEST.
