Any chance to pull in 5.6.3 release to the first half of the year? We've
already got the first 5.9 beta out, so the release should happen hopefully by
the end of May. We should be able to branch 5.6.3 and release sooner than
August. That would also help alleviate the work of both a 5.6.3 and 5.10 alpha
close together.

At this time, 5.6.3 has 405 patches in qtbase, versus 530 that went there for
5.6.2. I'd rather release with fewer than more, as it decreases the chance of
being difficult to achieve a release. And the more we wait, the more there will
be of them. And it would place 5.6.3 more or less half-way between 5.6.2 (Nov
2016) and 5.6.4 (Feb 2018).

The rest seems fine.

On another thread it was discussed as per assumption that the stable
branch (i.e. 5.9 in this case) can always be used. Would it be
feasible to shorten minor release periods? People will end up using it
anyway and the Qt project better make it easy to use a controlled
version rather than a random HEAD from the stable branch.

Furthermore, I don't think it's enough to wait 3 months to get a
stable release, we want people to have an incentive to submit upstream
and fix stuff in Qt rather than adding workarounds in their solutions.
