Re: [Development] Qt 6.2.6 LTS Commercial released
Wow! This thread already generated 12 messages - this one is the 13th. How many possible future commercial release e-mails could substitute all the posts from this thread? Would we be around 2024 already or later, isn't it? Is there really no bigger problem in the cruel world right now these days than wondering whether the sent e-mail with info about commercial release can or can't be filtered conveniently enough out by interested people? How many of subscribers receive this e-mail thread and feel much more uncomfortable with this thread comparing to the rare info about commercial release (unwanted by some, apparently wanted by others)? Keep safe! Re: [Development] Qt 6.2.6 LTS Commercial released
That's not about Qt development, that's about commercial Qt fork development. For commercial users, you have a dedicated commercial-only mailing list(s). I’m sure you can configure your email client to send all emails with sender “Konstantin Ritt” to the bin if these messages are irrelevant to you. While that is true, I think the criteria for sending something to a public mailing list should be that the mail could *potentially* be of interest to anyone on the list, otherwise you are just spamming a potentially large number of subscribers. It's basic netiquette. The typical mail here is about development of Qt, and while some of those mails may be specialized and only may not be interesting to *everyone*, they could potentially be interesting to *anyone* (e.g. cover some technical topic they want to learn about etc). I don't think that can be said of commercial-only release announcement, which are for sure only interesting to a certain subset of subscribers, so suggest keeping them on some commercial-only list. Konstantin, We have users with commercial licenses and access to those releases on this mailing list as well. And some of them contribute to Qt, and are perhaps happy to find out that a patch they might have contributed is now available to them through an official commercial package. I’m sure you can configure your email client to send all emails with subject “.*LTS Commercial released” to the bin if these announcements are irrelevant to you. Re: [Development] Qt 6.2.6 LTS Commercial released
Hi, You are right that cross-posting release announcements to multiple lists might actually not be needed? These three lists (announce, release, development) are the ones often used for announcing a new release. It might be that announcing only via the announce list would be enough. For a new release there is also blog post written and of course many don’t follow any of these channels but just see a new item pop up in the online installer.
