Thanks everyone for the advice - It seems we have our work cut out for us

Anyway - I believe the link Max gave me may be the key - if this will work,
we can develop around the sourcesafebridge and use it to store our projects
/ objects / information etc. 

Having a good Version control is key to any project / lifetime success!

Hi Jens


As I understand it, what you want is to delete a dimension like 
department “Home” and at the same time make sure that it is not present 
in any table.

Why not just loop thro all tables that has a column called dimension, 
dimension2_ or dimension3_, depending on what dimension, department, 
centre or purpose you’re  referring to and then set the value to 
“empty“, and after that delete the dimension you don’t want to use.

from eg. sqlplus you type something like.

update table ledgertable set dimension = '' where dimension = 'HOME';

I looked at the configuration key and realised that the field my customer
wont get any way because it requires 'Business analysis' license but I am
still interested to know the class you mention is being triggered during
cube generating is it?

    I assume that the reason why you want to delete dimensions is because u
  dont want them in lookup. If this is correct then add one more field
called
  valid on dimensions and use this field in defining the 'related field
fixed'
  relation with the extended data type. You achieve your purpose without
  having to delete the dimension values.

    I need to get rid of old dimensions that will not be used any more. If

    DeleteActions on table Dimensions, 2) deleted the dimensions and 3) put
in
    the DeleteActions again ?

    The consistency check would probably detect the missing dimensions, but
  they
    haven't been used for 3-4 years.

    Any thoughts or pointers on this ?

    I assume that the reason why you want to delete dimensions is because u
  dont want them in lookup. If this is correct then add one more field
called
  valid on dimensions and use this field in defining the 'related field
fixed'
  relation with the extended data type. You achieve your purpose without
  having to delete the dimension values.

Hi Lars,


That error relates most likely to a known error in Axapta. Try to locate
the record in utilidelements called Country in the current layer (e.g.
usr). See if the fields in the record look suspicious. If so, delete the
record. Then it's fixed.

It's because you have saved the table (ctrl + s) in the AOT "too fast",
meaning before Axapta has read the record from the utilidelements.
Therefore it saves a blank record which makes it crash when you select
it again in the AOT.

Hi,

I have a datasource (it's a view) with a lot of records. 
I would like to display in a grid the informations coming from this 
datasource. 
BUT I DON'T WANT TO SHOW ALL THE DATA. 

In my datasource there are the accountName, the name of the client 
and some informations about all the sales that he has done. 
So, if I display the contents of the datasource, I have for example:

142 | John Smith | 111 | firstSaleSmith
142 | John Smith | 112 | secondSaleSmith
888 | Peter Cook | 223 | firstSaleCook

I would like to display in my grid only the account name and the 
name of the clients:

142 |John Smith
888 |Peter Cook

But I have:

142 |John Smith
142 |John Smith
888 |Peter Cook

How can I do to not display 2 times the same line?

It sounds like you have a corruption somewhere. You could try deleting the Axapta index file (axapd.aoi) from your Appl subdirectory so that Axapta rebuilds it when you restart Axapta. If that doesn't work you will probably have to delete any changes you've made to that object in your layers through code rather than via the AOT. You'll then have to find a way to repeat whatever changes you had there manually.

I have made the code for renaming and merging Dimensions (ver 3.0) for a
customer.
 
It does not require much changes, but it is "brain-surgery", so you should
be sure to do it all correct.
