[e-smith-devinfo] Fetchmail problem
Hi, I rather don't know if this is a bug or some of my configuration error. Due to my ISP problems I have to drop all my mail in one pop-box and retreive it using fetchmail to retreive the mail for the right users. I have one slight problem and that is if a pseudonym/alias is used to send mail to, the mail is dropped into the administrators box. Is there some way to drop this mail into the box of the intended recipient?? thanks, Raymond -- Please report bugs to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] (only) to discuss security issues Support for registered customers and partners to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives by mail and http://www.mail-archive.com/devinfo%40lists.e-smith.org
Re: [e-smith-devinfo] FYI - new worm appears to be hitting Microsoft IIS servers
It looks more like a hack attack It is not a worm, but just someone trying to use the unicode hack! At my work we have been hacked by people using this hack. I have no links for you and can't look them up, thanks to my ISP. I can only view a very few pages, so search for unicode hack IIS or something and most probably you'll get the info you want. - Original Message - From: Darrell May [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Dan York [EMAIL PROTECTED]; Darrell May [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: E-smith developers list [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, September 18, 2001 7:57 PM Subject: Re: [e-smith-devinfo] FYI - new worm appears to be hitting Microsoft IIS servers Dan York [EMAIL PROTECTED] said: Actually, you may have even more. Re: [e-smith-devinfo] Terrorist Attacks.
Although I don't live in the USA or either know anyone in the area of the attacked sites I think I have to say that I disapprove this kind of terrorism. Too many innocent people have died (although there are no real numbers released) and I was stunned when I saw the horrible news. The most annoying thing I saw today on the news was that some very sick people were celebrating this attack... uch ... disgusting. My compassion goes out to anyone who need it! greetings from the Netherlands to all of you! - Original Message - From: David J. Re: [e-smith-devinfo] Lost IMAP Mail
Well, I had the very same problem. I deleted the new messages I had received and it worked again. If you look up your mailbox using webmail, you can read your mail anyway. So I think there is some error in the messages on which the client hangs. Sometimes it reoccurs when receiving new mail. The log-entries you sent are not imap packets because imap runs on port 143 not on 1 or 5 - Original Message - From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, September 10, 2001 2:20 PM Subject: [e-smith-devinfo] Lost IMAP Mail Hi, There are a few messages on the General Discussion board about lost IMAP mail. Two separate e-smith boxes, one running 4.1.1, the other 4.1.2 stopped updating their IMAP boxes at around 1100 BST today. Other people around the globe seem to be having the same problem, anyone got any ideas what's happening? I've had a look in /var/log/messages and /var/log/maillog and don't see anything too unusual, but then I'm not really sure what I should be looking for. The only unusual message appears to me to be a firewall deny as follows: Sep 10 12:47:43 e-smith kernel: Packet log: denylog DENY eth0 PROTO=1 192.168.1. 19:5 192.168.1.241:1 L=129 S=0xC0 I=7050 F=0x T=255 (#1) Sep 10 12:47:43 e-smith kernel: Packet log: denylog DENY eth0 PROTO=1 192.168.1. 19:5 192.168.1.241:1 L=88 S=0xC0 I=7051 F=0x T=255 (#1) These seem to occur after requesting an IMAP refresh from W/S 192.168.1.241 Any suggestions would be greatfully received. [e-smith-devinfo] suggestions for batched/backup mail
Hi guys out there, two weeks ago I have configured my mailserver to be a backup for someone elses mailserver, first I made it work by just adding a new domain for which mail was accepted and setting the mailserver to which the mail has to be sent. So far so good it works, but the mailserver of my friend has been dead for almost a week, so you quess.. the time-out of the mail expired and all mail was returned to the original senders apologizing that the mail could not be delivered. To avoid this I should have to make the timeout a little longer (in the most ideal case infinite). But if I do that and I send a mail to someone (with a wrong address) on a foreign server, I would not get any notice that the address might be wrong or that the other mailserver does not exist or any other message you should receive. So this is not the solution to run as a real backup. Thus I thought out a solution for this problem. I am creating a deamon which looks if there is mail for a backup mailuser, if so it checks if the host is online and will accept the mail, and if this condition has been reached als mail will be read from the new directory and will be posted to the mailserver. To make this package rock I want to ask you al if there is something what you expect from such a solution. Sure, there will be a control panel tool too so e-smith users can easily configure a backup mailaccount for a friend or something. greetings, Raymond -- Please report bugs to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Please mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] (only) to discuss security issues Support for registered customers and partners to [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Archives by mail and http://www.mail-archive.com/devinfo%40lists.e-smith.org
