Have the RAV team provided details of what caused the problem?

Naturally, we did not intentionally break add-ons such as RAV, but
did change Obtuse SMTPD to stop it mangling foreign character sets and
special symbols.

Thanks,

Absolutely understood that the changes and intentions were expected to be
benefitial. No worries.

If I may suggest, I would truly appreciate a 'sneak peak' anytime changes
are made in the future, prior to public release.

More good news. I can report that RAV for Qmail v8.3.0 works on SME5. I
have received permission to jump ahead of the 'official' release date.

I will immediately work on revising my HowTo's to reflect the new version
install requirements and will let everyone know when the new release and
HowTo's are ready.

[e-smith-devinfo] Public Beta of future releases (was Re: [e-smith-devinfo] RAV/SME5 update)

We strongly support the public beta program and future releases will use
this process. The SME Server V5 beta period was during our transition
to a new organisation and we needed to ensure clarity between the GPL
Server release and proprietary code, both ours and our partners.

We are aware that not having a public beta has caused bugs to surface
after release which might have been found by having more beta testers.
Unfortunately, it was a decision we had to make at the time in order
to meet our release dates.

And before anyone asks, we were not restricted from doing a public beta
by our new company, or anything like that. We just had too many things
on our plate at the time and needed to ensure clarity.

Thanks,

Gordon

Good to hear Gordon. I look forward to participating in the next public
