I managed to find the correct line (out of many) by doing a pagemangle on the link text (which contains the filename) and then mangling the URL back via downloadurlmangle, but uscan refuses to download the URL it correctly identified as candidate saying uscan debug: https://ccpforge.cse.rl.ac.uk/gf/download/frsrelease/574/8924/%64%6c%5f%63%6c%61%73%73%5f%31%2e%31%30%2e%74%61%72%2e%67%7a by filenamemangle rule. uscan warn: Fix filenamemangle to produce a filename with the correct version The current debian/watch is: version=4 opts="pagemangle=s/\">dl_class_([\d.]+)\.tar\.gz/dl_class_$1\.tar\.gz\">/,downloadurlmangle=s/dl_class_([\d.]+)\.tar\.gz//,filenamemangle=s/.*dl_class_([\d.]+)\.tar\.gz/dl-poly-classic-$1\.tar\.gz/" \ https://ccpforge.cse.rl.ac.uk/gf/project/dl_poly_classic/frs/ .*/gf/download/frsrelease/.* As filenamemangle does not allow for the /e flag (and thus some decoding regexp like 's/%([A-Fa-f\d]{2})/chr hex $1/eg'), I can't do anything about the URL currently AFAICT. So I guess what I would need is some option to tell uscan that the last part of the URL should be decoded (or maybe it could do that automatically), from which it could figure out the version. When I try to use the provided bash-completion with uupdate, it only offers -* options when I type tab; if I start typing a filename, then typing tab does not offer any completions. It also doesn't make sense to me why --pristine should then do a compgen -G on filenames. This practice is encouraged by the golang tools and by the community. Whether that is a good thing or not is the subject of a broader discussion. When used with git mode, I would like for uscan to generate a version number even though the repository is not tagged. One of our tools, dh-make-golang, is able to do this. For example: "0.0~git20151028.0.2a60fc2-1": - 0.0 is the latest tag. If there are no tags found, 0.0 is the default. - git20151028 represents the date of the last commit - 0 represents the number of commits that day (counting from 0) - 2a60fc2 is the commit id It does not have to be this exact versioning scheme, others can work too. I have done a quick research and it looks like this can be done with a combination of git ls-remote, downloading the last object, and parsing it for the date. This would help us a great deal to keep up with our packages, and would surely be useful for other teams/packages. This was discussed in dh-make-golang's issue tracker (adding Michael to CC as he has expressed a friend of his would like to code this): - https://github.com/Debian/dh-make-golang/issues/8 [1]: https://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=pkg-go-maintain...@lists.alioth.debian.org Cheers, -- Alexandre Viau av...@debian.org signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature --- End Message --- --- Begin Message --- Source: devscripts Source-Version: 2.18.1 We believe that the bug you reported is fixed in the latest version of devscripts, which is due to be installed in the Debian FTP archive. While it may upload a signature to verify the uploaded tarballs, those signatures are against the uncompressed tarball, rather than the compressed tarballs. For example, for dtc version 1.4.6, there is: https://www.kernel.org/pub/software/utils/dtc/ dtc-1.4.6.tar.gz dtc-1.4.6.tar.sign dtc-1.4.6.tar.xz I can download either .tar.gz or .tar.xz, decompress them, and then use the .tar.sign to verify it, but I don't see any obvious way to do this From debian/watch. I'm also not sure the Debian archive supports uploading a signature file against a file that isn't included in the distribution, so maybe this isn't really an issue worth handling in uscan... live well, vagrant -- Package-specific info: --- /etc/devscripts.conf --- --- ~/.devscripts --- Not present -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.3 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable'), (210, 'proposed-updates'), (120, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: armhf, arm64 Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-5-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=C.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=C.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages devscripts depends on: ii dpkg-dev 1.18.24 ii libc6 2.24-11+deb9u1 ii libfile-homedir-perl 1.00-1 ii perl 5.24.1-3+deb9u2 ii python3 3.5.3-1 ii sensible-utils0.0.9+deb9u1 Versions of packages devscripts recommends: ii apt 1.4.8 ii at 3.1.20-3 ii curl7.52.1-5+deb9u3 ii dctrl-tools 2.24-2+b1 ii debian-keyring 2017.11.24 ii dput-ng [dput] 1.13 ii equivs 2.0.9+nmu1 ii fakeroot1.21-3.1 ii file1:5.30-1+deb9u1 ii gnupg 2.1.18-8~deb9u1 ii gnupg2 2.1.18-8~deb9u1 ii libdistro-info-perl 0.14 ii libdpkg-perl1.18.24 ii libencode-locale-perl 1.05-1 ii libgit-wrapper-perl 0.047-1 ii liblist-compare-perl0.53-1 ii liblwp-protocol-https-perl 6.06-2 ii libsoap-lite-perl 1.20-1 ii liburi-perl 1.71-1 ii libwww-perl 6.15-1 ii licensecheck3.0.29-1 ii lintian 2.5.67~bpo9+1 ii man-db 2.7.6.1-2 ii patch 2.7.5-1+b2 ii patchutils 0.3.4-2 ii python3-apt 1.4.0~beta3 ii python3-debian 0.1.30 ii python3-magic 1:5.30-1+deb9u1 ii python3-requests2.12.4-1 pn python3-unidiff ii python3-xdg 0.25-4 ii strace 4.15-2 ii unzip 6.0-21 ii wdiff 1.2.2-2 ii wget1.18-5+deb9u1 ii xz-utils5.2.2-1.2+b1 Versions of packages devscripts suggests: pn adequate ii autopkgtest 4.4 pn bls-standalone ii bsd-mailx [mailx]8.1.2-0.20160123cvs-4 ii build-essential 12.3 pn check-all-the-things pn cvs-buildpackage pn devscripts-el pn diffoscope pn disorderfs pn dose-extra pn duck pn faketime pn gnuplot ii gpgv 2.1.18-8~deb9u1 pn how-can-i-help ii libauthen-sasl-perl 2.1600-1 ii libfile-desktopentry-perl0.22-1 pn libnet-smtps-perl pn libterm-size-perl ii libtimedate-perl 2.3000-2 pn libyaml-syck-perl

Bug#509311: marked as done ([uscan] Option for parsing revision information from VCS)
Your message dated Sun, 21 Jan 2018 10:14:39 +0900 with message-id <20180121011439.ga31...@goofy.tc4.so-net.ne.jp> and subject line direct subversion support has caused the Debian Bug report #509311, regarding [uscan] Option for parsing revision information from VCS to be marked as done. This means that you claim that the problem has been dealt with. If this is not the case it is now your responsibility to reopen the Bug report if necessary, and/or fix the problem forthwith. (NB: If you are a system administrator and have no idea what this message is talking about, this may indicate a serious mail system misconfiguration somewhere. Please contact ow...@bugs.debian.org immediately.) -- 509311: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=509311 Debian Bug Tracking System Contact ow...@bugs.debian.org with problems --- Begin Message --- Package: devscripts Version: 2.10.43 Severity: wishlist Hi! Is it possible to make uscan get the revision/version/etc of remote VCS repositories, please? For example, it's possible to get the last revision of a SVN repository: $ svn info http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk/ Path: trunk URL: http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk Repository Root: http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn Repository UUID: 612f8ebc-c883-4be0-9ee0-a4e9ef946e3a Revision: 34877 Node Kind: directory Last Changed Author: rhuijben Last Changed Rev: 34876 Last Changed Date: 2008-12-20 10:28:17 -0200 (Sat, 20 Dec 2008) (probably the other VCS have a similar function) Then we would use something that says "get the latest revision from foo" inside the watch file and use it to watch packages that use the VCS version/revision on them. A practical example: checkgmail uses dversionmangle in its watch file to remove the +svn part from the version. version=3 opts=dversionmangle=s/\+svn\d+$// \ http://sf.net/checkgmail/checkgmail-([\d.]*)\.tar\.bz2 With the usage of VCS, it could be (just an idea): version=X vcs=svn=https://checkgmail.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/checkgmail \ [plus some more magic here] Then instead getting this: $ uscan --report-status Processing watchfile line for package checkgmail... Newest version on remote site is 1.13, local version is 1.13+svn37 (mangled local version number 1.13) => Package is up to date We would get this: $ uscan --report-status Processing watchfile line for package checkgmail... Newest version on remote site is 1.13+svn37, local version is 1.13+svn37 => Package is up to date Thank you very much! I am closing this bug as above. I think it is desiarable to apply attached patch. This patch is against git HEAD (so version 2.15.8 is affected). FYI: Although it is not documented and it has no practical use as of now, the current uscan code allows us to write multiple entries after the "version=3" line to download source files with some problem. With relatively minor patch, this can be made to download secondary tarballs properly for multi-tarball source files. ... it is working here. Let me do some code polishing ... Looking at the code, acceptable answers (COMPREPLY) are determined by appending a few known suffixes to the current word. This doesn't work once we're past the common part. After a quick research (read: I haven't checked official documentation for best practices, etc.), the attached patch looks reasonable to me: the known suffixes are added as such (instead of as globs using the current word), and results are filtered using the current word. Below, you'll find examples based on my ~/debian-installer directory, with differences before/after applying the patch. As I don't upload to stable that often, I always have to look up the correct versioning and target distribution (e.g. "stable" vs. "stretch"). It would be nice to have an option similar to --bpo to prepare an update for a package in stable. Likewise for oldstable.
