Re: [Dhis2-users] Data visualizer has no data
Would at least be good if people got a message that the levels have not been created whenever they try to do something that requires them. Also probably should add a message that tells the user to click SAVE even if she thinks the suggestions of Level1, Level2 are fine (i.e. they seem to already exist, but don't...) Re: [Dhis2-users] Maps of outbreaks
Dear Knut and all, Very interesting discussion. I would like to share my thought also on how Sahana DMS included this. We had the concept of 'situation awareness' -which I think is a well agreed term in surveillance. When counts reach a certain level, it becomes an outbreak. So, I think we may not need to introduce the data element 'outbreak', but a means to define a threshold to any data element or indicator once aggregated (eg. low hemoglobin in age group 1-14 years). In creating each data element or indicator in DHIS2, we can flag it whether its under surveillance. Also, another feature could be for the facility to set thresholds to data elements or indicators marked for surveillance. Then it can trigger notifications apart from mapping the cases on the map. Map legend would be able to provide additional visual clues whether the condition is under surveillance or reached the threshold (outbreak). 'Revers' of this process we used for inventory management. User can define re-order levels and Sahana does the estimations and sends alerts. Re: [Dhis2-users] Issue importing CSV with categoryoptioncombos
HI Bob, Thanks for these suggestions. Actually the categoryoptioncomboname doesn't have a uid either. Remember, it normally combines several options e.g. (Male, 5 Year). The options themselves have uids (e.g. Male or 5 years), but the combinations are system generated in the _categoryoptioncomboname table which only has two fields (categoryoptioncomboid and categoryoptioncomboname). The fact that the names are enclosed in parentheses also causes problems sometimes when exporting data though CSVs, but currently the only thing we could match on is the categoryoptioncomboname. I'll try the new detailed metadata export features. Maybe that will help. Re: [Dhis2-users] Issue importing CSV with categoryoptioncombos
Hi Randy, In fact, the category combo options do have UIDs, but they are not available through the resource tables for some reason. You can join to categoryoptioncombo with the categoryoptioncomboid field. I may be confusing things, since it seems there is more to it than from your emails, but just wanted to point this out. [Dhis2-users] How to handle an organisational unit that works in multiple districts
Hi All, I am designing a database for an organization that works with multiple local NGOs (14 NGOs in all) as the Implementing Partners (IPs) for the said organization. There are 40 districts in all. For the sake of this description, I will name the districts as district_1, district_2, district_3, and so on. and the IPs as IP1, IP2, IP3, and so on. Each of the IPs works in multiple districts; for example IP1 and IP2 each works in all the 40 districts. Each IP specializes in one program area. For example, IP1 does only HIV/AIDS while IP2 focuses on Gender Human Rights. The organization needs to be able to know the results of each IP from each district every month. I am therefore planning to set up the organisation unit names in the DHIS 2 database as follows: For IP1 and IP2, I'm considering the following orgUnit names: District_1 IP1_d1 IP2_d1 District_2 IP1_d2 IP2_d2 District_3 IP1_d3 IP2_d3 . . . District_40 IP1_d40 IP2_d40 I would appreciate suggestions on how to handle this piece, especially if there's a better way than this approach and would also like to hear from anyone who had had to deal with this type of situation and how they handled the orgUnit names. Thank you so much. John John Ojo MD, FMCPH Accra, Ghana.
