Thanks for the replies and apologies for the late reponse. 

Pamela & Ore Somolu, thank you for the info on Cawdnet and the various other
projects. My interest is how ICT4D might help with ethno-socio divisions.
Are there any demonstrations of reduced tensions and greater civic unity in
the region? Contributors to this would conceivably include increased
agricultural production (and hence less privation?), increased education
leading to healthy competition and alternatives, etc. I'm also interested in
how visible the Chinese are in ICT4D projects. 

The breadth of impact, any measurables, and the role of outside corporations
and governments in providing support (financial or otherwise) would be
helpful. Writing this down it sounds like I'm asking for the moon... I'm
just trying to piece together the various and numerous initiatives in
Nigeria and determine if singularly or collectively we've seen an impact. 

I will follow up offline to not muddle the list with further questions.

in ICT work in rural communities in northern Nigeria.

I am working on a policy paper arguing for ICT4D as a stabilizer for 
failing

/ weak states. The country I'm targetting with this study is Nigeria.
Between increasing telecom privatisation (including relatively low Skype
rates that fell lower Jan 06), corruption, ethno-religious-socio divisions,
influence of foreign investment (China), Nollywood, some projects and
statements to further empower women... And illiterate Shari'a judges, bin
Laden's statement that Nigeria is a great place for "liberation" (i.e. bad
potential for the Sahal region)... Any information on successful ICT4D
projects ongoing in country?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Cawdnet networks in rural Nigeria. ICT4D is a key ingredient in how we 
do what we do. I can certainly provide you detailed local information of 
all kinds (both ICT related and general social/cultural information). My 
main sources of information are networks related to grassroots community 
development projects based in North Central Nigeria and South West 
Nigeria. However our networks stretch much further. If you need other 
locations we may well be able to help you find appropriate contacts.


What kind of information do you want? If  I  don't know it I can 
probably find someone who does.
