You're a walking sound bite generator.

On the note of inlining C++ into D. I guess this is the domain where we
will have to rely on LTO taking you there. Not an advertisable feature
though.

Catching foreign language exceptions. It's supported but we only act as a
messenger. Intercept the thrown exception and pass it on, with the
expectation that higher up the backtrace is the C++ or whatever language
catch handler to deal with it. I don't see catching or throwing C++
exceptions from D ever happening. At least, you need more help than just
mangling and layout.

Despite of what I had say previously I've encountered another
"inliner" bug today that looks like a regression. I don't know
what's the 2.069 ETA but I'm not sure to be able to file a
bugzilla entry quickly.

Hi everyone,

LDC 0.16.1, the LLVM-based D compiler, is available for
download!
This release is based on the 2.067.1 frontend and standard
library and supports LLVM 3.1-3.7 (OS X: no support for 3.3).

Don't miss to check if your preferred system is supported by
this release. We also have a Win64 compiler available!

As usual, you can find links to the changelog and the binary
packages over at digitalmars.D.ldc:

Fantastic!

Since ldc2 is part of the Fedora repositories, do you happen to
know who is responsible for pushing the update in?

I think Jonathan Mercier (bioinfornat...@fedoraproject.org)
maintains the Fedora package.

Looks interesting but I fail to see "DConf". The text should
read "DConf

2016/May 4-6/Berlin, Germany" -- Andrei

That would give something like:
https://github.com/p0nce/dconf.org/blob/master/2016/images/logo-sample.png

The logo looks nice, but it doesn't seem to be evocative of D.
I think there needs to be a theme to it, like "D saves the
world", "D is cool tech", "D makes money for business", "D is
the choice of cutting edge programmers", "D is the latest
technology", etc. Something like that.

Made a 2nd attempt here:

Great interview! It's a shame though that you didn't point people
to your "Generic Programming Must Go" talk when you were talking
about std.allocator and design by introspection.

Good luck! :)

I think you need an Italian translator too. :) Your ad on
facebook sounds bad in italian where "display" is translated as a
female word but all big italian dictionaries report it as male.

You write "La programmatic display" but it should be "Il
programmatic display".
("Programmatic" should be translated IMO: in italian
"programmatico" exists and it means "programmatic" so: "Il
display programmatico" sounds a lot better)

Many thanks to both you and ponce! This is great work.

I have good news and bad news. The bad news is we won't likely be able
to accept either of these proposals.

The good news is Sociomantic wants to get behind the DConf logo design,
more generally behind the dconf.org site design, and even more generally
get more involved in helping the Foundation and the language. It will
take their design team a bit longer to get things done, but they want to
do it right.

There's been considerable back and forth between Sociomantic and
ourselves before choosing this path. One concern was that corporate
intervention risks to stifle individual contributions such as Jonas' and
ponce's. We concluded that we've been roughing it long enough so a bit
of structured help is welcome.

I am very sorry your work will not be used for the conference site. My
hope is this decision will help the greater good.

Thanks,

Andrei
