If you download any one of the digital mode packages like MixW, WinPSK
or others, you can set the program up, send and listen to what comes
out of your soundcard also.

Hello to all Ham and SWL,
The new release of MULTIPSK (3.11) is in my Web site (http://f6cte.free.fr).

The main mirror site is Earl's, N8KBR:
http://multipsk.eqth.org/index.html
Another mirror site isTerry's: http://www.hamsoft.co.uk/
Multispk associated to Clock are freeware programs but with functions
submitted to a licence (by user key).
La nouvelle version de MULTIPSK (3.11) est sur mon site Web
(http://f6cte.free.fr)
Le principal site miroir est celui de Earl N8KBR:
http://multipsk.eqth.org/index.html
Il y a également le site miroir de Terry: http://www.hamsoft.co.uk/
Multispk associé à Clock sont des programmes de type "graticiel" ("freeware")
mais avec des fonctions soumises à licence (par clé utilisateur).
The main modification of MULTIPSK 3.11 is the following:
Possibility to code/decode the new mode PAX, capable to assure,
through an original protocol, transmissions:
In connected mode, communications are done from a Ham
to another Ham (with possible individual APRS position transmission), possibly
through one or two repeaters. The connected PAX mode is an asynchronous ARQ mode
type ("Automatic Repetition Request" by ACK/NACK). Transmissions are
free-error.
In non-connected mode ("Unproto"), it can exist either
an individual traffic (Ham to Ham) or a collective traffic in APRS (positions
transmission), possibly through one or two repeaters. This mode is similar to
the "Unproto" Packet mode.
It is supplied in addition to APRS, the following functions:
* PAX repeater (connected / "Unproto") with signalling of the repeater
presence,
* PAX beacon,
* automatic PAX responder (reception/transmission of messages) and RX radio
mail (for Packet and PAX messages).
Note: several functions in APRS and the
PAX responder (+the radio mail) are only available in registered version.
See PAX specifications further on.
Proposed QRG: 3590, 7043, 10148, 14075
USB 144620 Khz FM
For information, for all the Multipsk exotic modes (PSKFEC31, PSK10, PSKAM,
PSK63F, PSK220F (+DIGISSTV), CCW-FSK, MFSK8, THROBX, DOMINO, PAX...), I propose
the QRP frequency: 14075 Khz USB (AF around 1000 Hz), at 17h00
UTC.
SUMMARY OF THE PAX SPECIFICATIONS (modulation and
protocol)
Creator : Patrick Lindecker in 2005
Modulation description :
Baud rate  : 62.5
Speed  : 5.86 characters/sec so 59 wpm
Modulation  : FSK 8 tones (3 bits arranged in a Gray form), with a shift
between tones of 62.5 Hz (500 Hz bandwidth).
Reception mode: sensible to the side (USB or LSB), USB is recommended
Shape of pulse  : specific shape (between a Hanning window and a
rectangular window)
Character set  : ASCII 6 bits (64 characters)
Bandwidth  : 500 Hz
Synchronization : automatic using the signal
Interleaving  : spreading of 3 bits "vertically" in the block,
Scrambling : with a 32 bits sequence applied on each line of the block but
with a delay of 13 bits between two successive lines.
Drift tolerance  : 30 Hz/mn (depending on signal the signal-to-noise
ratio)
Pmean/Ppeak : 0.76
Lowest S/N : – 10 dB
Note: it is a mode directly derived from the 8 tones, 62.5 bauds Olivia
mode (Pawel Jalocha SP9VRC) but:
* with a 32 bits vector instead of a 64 bits vector,
* a different set of characters,
* the reception and the transmission can be done everywhere on the spectrum
("waterfall").
PAX protocol in non-connected mode ("Unproto")
All the communication is done through "frames" (limited set of characters).
There is, in non-connected mode, only one sort of frame called UI, which permits
to send either messages or APRS frames. The Unproto PAX protocol is
similar to the AX25 Unproto protocol (Packet).
It is possible to pass through 2 PAX repeaters (with possible use of the
alias ECHO).
PAX protocol in connected mode
The connected PAX mode is an ARQ mode type (ARQ for "Automatic
Repetition Request" by acknowledgment ACK or non-acknowledgment NACK) inspired
from AX25 (Packet) and Pactor1 but asynchronous (Pactor 1 being ARQ synchronous)
because the acknowledgments and non-acknowledgments are not done at fixed
interval (this possibility not being available under Windows) but inside a
maximum duration.
Each transmitted I frame is subject to an acknowledgment or a
non-acknowledgment by a RR or I frame.
It is possible to pass through 2 PAX repeaters. Without repeaters, the
transmission can be "full-duplex" type (proto

[digitalradio] Re: PAX mode?

2005-11-20 Thread Jerry
Hi Andy,

After John - W3NT posted on MULTIPSK reflector, I was setting up PAX.
By the time I had it set up, John N3WT was having a Olivia contact
with K4VO on the frequency he wanted to meet, 14.105.5. So no
contact. Now trying to contact WD8NIK around 10.137.50 on CHIP64.

[digitalradio] Olivia Programs?

2005-11-20 Thread jchutch02492
I am interested in trying this mode. The links I found in earlier
messages to MixW beta don't seem to be working (I am a registered MixW
user with full release version 2.15, but gather that access for beta
testing is limited to a specific group). OlivaAide does not appear to
have a spectrum display (unless I'm missing something -- quite
possibly). Any other candidates?

Thanks,

Joe, KB1CJ

[digitalradio] Re: Olivia Programs?

2005-11-20 Thread jchutch02492
Well, no sooner did I ask than I stumbled across a couple of answers.
So, for whatever it's worth (feel free to add to the list):

I found an earlier message mentioning G3VFP's site. Sure enough, it
has MixW beta and the Olivia dll: http://www.g3vfp.org/download.html

The other program I found, which I am sure many of you know already,
is MultiPSK.

I didn't hear much going on here this evening (80 or 40M), so hoping
to give it a try next weekend. Also intrigued with PAX in MultiPSK.
Lot's to play with. :-)
