[digitalradio] Re: verify callsign?
Orrin, EA7DUD is definitely a valid QSO with a real person. Spain at 6000 miles is very believable. Now, lets have a QSO between the two of us. At 13,500 km that is still less than my QSO with CX2AQ at 16,500 km. I am still trying for my first QSO with anyone on the East Coast US. 73, Bob, 9V1QQ --- In digitalradio@yahoogroups.com, WN1Z [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Howdy folks, I had my first JT65A qso with wb6mlc, just maybe 200 miles distant, no challenge there ... we often talk on SSB ... then Sunday with EA7DUD in Spain. I normally don't even try to work Europe, too much competition with other stations stateside. Personally i detest contesting. Can anyone else state they have QSOd with EA7DUD and they believe this is not someone just pirating that callsign? I know this sounds suspicious and wacky, but i know Bill k6acj also is wondering about some of this DX. There is no insult intended here, just looking for some assurance please ... I also heard 7L4IOU, Japan, and the distance from here in California is maybe 5000 miles to Japan and not quite 6000 to Spain, so Spain is believable. Orrin wn1z

Hi Orrin and others, I'm adding every Call/grid square I get sent, or that I can deduce from reading messages on this list. I haven't had a lot of time over the weekend. Apart from working I also had to repair my AR7030 Receiver. It's long story inolving a splitter feeding my HF antenn signal to the AR7030 and my IC706 so I could monitor 2 bands at once. I then forgot I'd set this up and when I saw K1JT (the inventor of WSJT) calling CQ on 20m I gave him a call. Worked him no problem. Then noticed profoundly deaf AR7030. Have found several chip Ls and Cs in the font end filtering have gone open circuit. Made a temporory repar pending new components. You can see wht it's normal job is by looking here:- http://g4irx.nowindows.net/fivemegs/comparison.php Anyway, back to the CALL3.TXT file. The more calls/grids I get the better, because without a significant number the function will be useless - I'd guess with a small pool to choose from you'd get a lot of false positives? Cheers, John

Any chance we could setup the yahoo group database to collect this info, and then just generate a new one on an as needed basis? -- 73, Erik N7HMS IRLP Node 3805 445.975 Simp PL103.5 Emails sent directly to this address instead of going through a yahoo group are automatically processed as junk mail, so I never see them. [digitalradio] Software for Pactor Controller?
As mentioned in an earlier post, I have a PacComm Pactor I controller (vintage 1992) with version 2.02 firmware. I did find the original operating instructions and am wondering if there is some better software to use than trying to find some terminal emulator. What would you recommend for someone just getting back on AMTOR/Pactor after a very long absence? I will be using the controller with a Yaesu FT-897 and CAT interface. All ideas gratefully received! 73, Carl WA0CQG [EMAIL PROTECTED]

[digitalradio] LoTW for JT65a
I am finally set up with ARRL's Logbook of the World and would like to upload my JT65a QSOs. Unlike eQSL, I cannot find a mode option for JT65a using ARRL's log software. The closest option I see is DATA. What is everyone else using? 73 de AF6AS Dave Sparks Riverside, CA

Carl I have been using YAPP since it came out back in the mid 80's for my TNC's. I use it with the 3 PK-232MBX - Kantronics as well as the SCS PTC-IIex for pactor 3.
