 Betreff: [digitalradio] PSK31 Instant Messaging

The title of Leigh's presentation gave me an idea. Instead of using things
like my K3Uk Interactive Sked page that is Internet dependent (or perhaps in
addition to it), what about establishing a suggested frequency for PSK31 (or
perhaps PSK63?) instant messaging. We could perhaps use 30M and or 20M, move
up 2 Khz from the usual PSK31 freqs, and send brief PSk31 messages like K3UK
QRV for any digital mode or K3UK looking for Delaware WAS digital or even
WA0JAB , John are you around tonight de K3UK . Simple one or two line
instant messages. Folks could have SPK31 software that supports a search
feature where it 'seeks up and down for perhaps 100Hz, that should get
everyone. Of course, we would QRL? first.

 Crazy ?

 Dave,
Welcome aboard. If you are interested in HF digital modes, you will
likely get other good answers from others, but for now you might be
interested in a presentation I did for our local club's Field Day GOTA
location when we had a PSK31 digital station. There are some other
resources on the page as well.

Equipment is inexpensive if you have a computer from this century and an
SSB rig that can be dialed down to 10-20W or so.

What is the easiest mode? Is the equipment expensive? Any info would
  be appreciated.

Try us, what is the issue ?

machine is a MacIntel Pro running XP Pro in a Parallels VM
this machine has NO serial ports, only USB2.0 and a couple of 1.0

State - starting and running in BPSK31

 1. machine signal tones are going to the SL and keying the transmit
 2. cannot get the MixW to recognize the Sound card, it likes rigblaster
 and
another and all else are relegated to computer card. ??? part of problem I
 think
 3. cannot get the MixW to keep the card settings for USB Codec
 4. Cannot get the MixW to hold the View2 from one reboot to another
 5. MixW loves to shutdown and I have to reboot. and reset all the settings
 6. XP knows that the dedicated sound card is USB Codec
Audio playback and record are set for USB Codec Wav is set for some other
 card
 7. cannot get the separate windows for receive and send
 8. cannot get the receive window to show the gibberish or occasional
 traffic
when my hairline is aligned with the yellow signal line.

do I need to install the software for emulating the serial ports?

that will do for a start Andy... a friend has a pure XP Pro machine and
 has
much the same problems. I am thinking about eating the $50 and sending 89$
off for a Mac version of MultiMode instead. even if it is cruder in
appearance. Just wish that MixW would port to OS X 10.x

 thanks Andy

[digitalradio] Re: ALE Instant Messaging

2007-09-08 Thread expeditionradio
Hi Steinar,

For testing purposes, change your Sounding Period to 10 minutes.
Start scanning [] the channels.
Now, starting scan channels, it should start sending your Report
within one or two minutes.

Be sure you have [x]REPORT box checked in Config141
Be sure you have RPT net address in the GPR Address.
Be sure you have your message in the report Manual Text.

[digitalradio] ATS-3b CW+digital modes transceiver

2007-09-08 Thread Vojtech Bubnik
Hi gang.

Steve KD1JV is selling his new ATS-3b altoids tin transceiver.
http://kd1jv.qrpradio.com/
He already sold the first hundred, so hurry up.

The previous kits only supported CW. The current one does support
modulation of various digital modes (PSK31, RTTY, MFSK16, Olivia etc.)
directly on the DDS. Receive is done as usual with the earphone to mic
link. TX control is quite unusual. There are serial commands modulated
by the sound card output, which are decoded by a hamcom like decoder.
To make sure that the signal has zero DC, serial commands are layered
over Manchester modulation. The decoder is connected into the paddle
socket.

The only software able to talk to ATS-3b currently is PocketDigi. With
Pocket PC, it is the tiny digital modes companion for backpackers and
travelers. It is really fun to operate PSK31 from the peak with an
equipment all fitting into a small sandwich box.
