[digitalradio] Re: WSPR batch file. New file uploaded to digitalradio

2008-03-14 Thread Andrew O'Brien
Just change the lines as follows. Change K3UK to your call, change
FN02 to your grid square. Change the '3' to the comm port you use for
PTT.

Save to the folder that contains WSPR.exe and then run the .bat file.
This will then save you manually typing things in each time. You may
want to make you own for varying frequencies and bands.

[digitalradio] Quick tips for using MEPT/WSPR

2008-03-14 Thread Andrew O'Brien
-Please note the latest release of the software has changed the name
from MEPT_JT to WSPR . It now includes a T/R command line that will
automatically switch your rig from transmit to receive at a rate that
is set in the command line (see the instructions at
http://physics.princeton.edu/pulsar/K1JT/WSPR_Instructions.TXT )

Most activity ,so far, is on 30M. Set your dial on 10.13860 . Use
something like Spect_JT or Spectran or Multipsk to view the received
signal on a waterfall. In Spect_JT you should keep the received signal
between 1400 and 1600 Hz in the waterfall. If it is a MEPT signal,
you will see a VERY narrow vertical signal in the waterfall that lasts
TWO minutes.

Use the batch file I uploaded to get a quick start . The batch file
is simply

wspr T/R 10.1386 10.140105 3 K3UK FN02 30 25

The above line tells DOS to execute WSPR.exe Set the mode to both
TRANSMIT and RECEIVE. Then the first frequency is you receive
frequency, the next is the audio frequency for transmit (your rig
stays on 10.1386 while transmitting) . Next number is the comm port
you use for PTT. Then your call sign, power, and finally percent of
time transmit/receive.

Change your call sign and grid square and comm port number.

If you receive a signal, the DOS window will display something like this

094200 2 -17 -1.7 10.140147 VE3CDX DM26 37 11.1

Note: This is NOT a QSO mode. You do not connect or carry out a
conversation. You simply transmit and hope someone copies you or, or
receive and see how the band is doing. To hold conversations about
who you are seeing , or who is receiving you, go to the digitalradio
sked page at http://www.obriensweb.com/skedclick on MEPT and join
the on-line chat.

Do NOT operate unattended . Do not transmit if the frequency is
occupied.
