[digitalradio] Re: AMTOR

2008-08-12 Thread Gerry Lawlor
Hi

Many years ago I had a G3PLX Mk II board which was interfaced to a RTTY
system to send and receive AMTOR. It was basically very close to the
AMT-1 system without the modem. I think I have the board still but in a
modified form and I have no data on the board at this stage. It did
work extremely well for me when used with an ST6 type TU. So too did
the KC7WW software used with the same TU.

The EPC Contest Committee has received 282 logs for the European PSK
DX Contest 2008 from 56 DXCC countries: 4L, 9A, 9H, 9V, BY, CN, CT,
DL, E7, EA, EA6, EA8, ER, EU, F, FO, G, GM, GW, HA, HB9, HS, I, J3,
JA, K, KL7, KP4, LY, LZ, OE, OH, OK, OM, ON, PA, PY, S5, SM, SP, SV,
SV9, TA, UA0, UA1, UN, UR, VE, VR, VU, YB, YL, YO, YU, YV, and Z3.

Through our judgment software (W3KM) we could manage to cross-check
QSOs within the received logs, and found approx 519 stations
(operators) who made more than 3 contacts during the contest and never
sent their logs to the Contest Committee. The list of these stations
is published in the official Contest Results 2008. We can assume that
there were more than 800 participants this year, and only 35% of them
submitted their logs.

Sergey Zhemaytis RU3QR (EPC # 16) leads the EU Stations – Low Power
category with a score of 459296 (new record). Peter Pilipchuk UR7TZ is
second with a score of 263652 and Dmitry Sokolov RX1CQ (EPC # 127) is
in third place with a score of 258687. The top entrants in the EU
Stations - High Power category are Vladimir Zherebyev RV3WT with a
score of 504441 (new record), Alexander Ksenofontov RD3PM (EPC # 3396)
with a score of 471514 and Ludek Salac OK1VSL (EPC # 1016) is in third
place with a score of 444780.

Alexey Miroyedov UN7CN takes the top position in the DX Stations - Low
Power category with a score of 14416, William Sheehan KB3LIX takes
second position with a score of 7904 (new North American record in
this category), followed by C. K. Raman VU3DJQ (EPC # 1167) with a
score of 6880. Roberto Moises Zunta PY2DN (EPC # 1945) is the highest
South American station in this category with a score of 3366 (new
record), and Rusdy Indra YB0KYM (EPC # 1577) takes the top position in
Oceania with a score of 110 only. This year we have not received logs
from African participants in the Low Power category.

Valery Toropchenkov RK9UM again takes the top position in the DX
Stations - High Power category with a score of 705374 (absolute new
record!). Second place goes to Emin Chijavadze 4L1QX (EPC # 203) with
a score of 663228, and another participant from Georgia - Alexander
Nersesyan 4L1FP (EPC # 1042) took third place with a score of 544455.
And again the winning entrant from Africa in this category is Mohamed
Kharbouche CN8KD (EPC # 1194) with a score of 299880 (new record).
Norman Rivers W1BYH is the highest HP North American station with a
score of 55680 (absolute new record!). And once again Jose Gregorio
Teran YY1JGT is leading in South America with a score of 12550. The
winning entrant in this section from Oceania this year is Nur Amran
YB8EL with a score of 29406.

RV3WT, RU3QR, RK9UM and UN7CN will receive our trophies by post. All
the rest winners will receive their certificates in PDF format via
email. Please contact Heinz DK5UR if you are not a winner and require
certificate of the participation for your collection. The EU PSK DX
Contest Certificate 2008 may be claimed by any contest participant, no
matter what place you have (EPC members only). The place you have in
the world, your continent and DXCC country will be clearly indicated
on the certificate depending on the results in your contest category.

The European PSK Club congratulates all the participants on their
achievement, and thanks all of you for your support of the PSK31 mode.
Please contact Victor UT7FP via [EMAIL PROTECTED] for UBN files. Many
thanks for your interest, and we look forward to see you in the EU PSK
DX Contest 2009.

RE: [digitalradio] Speaker Monitor Selection on Windows XP VolumeControl

2008-08-12 Thread r_lwesterfield
Hello,

I finally remembered what I did – kind of a déjà vu amnesia thing – I
remember that I have forgotten this before.

On the Windows volume control “Properties” for the “Playback” mixer
control, there is an “input monitor” selection that is often not turned on
with new installations of Windows. Unless you turn this on, you will not
have an “Input Monitor” choice on the Master Volume control. And in my
case, when I turned Input Monitor on, it was muted by default. Once I
unchecked the mute button on Input Monitor, I had radio sounds coming from
my speakers.

As I mentioned, mine was working fine but I could not remember what I
had done and I did not remember this as an input monitor thing. I am
trying to help a buddy get his digital HF radio computer going and I was
pulling my hair out with this the other day and now . . . I can finally fix
it for my friend. But I do appreciate the mind jogging thoughts from all of
you. I just had to think it through one more time.
