Marco,

I usually run MultiPSK 4.14 for JT65, so, just press the proper button
(JT65), select JT65A, left click on the sync tone (the extreme left
limit of the signal on the waterfall). Besides, your computer must be
synchronized to UTC somehow (from the Internet, a GPS, or a radio
standard like WWV, WWVB. CHU, DCF77,etc).I use CHU with Clock, tuning
14670 or 7850 kHz, it is the best of them by far from here.

[digitalradio] Talking JT65A via Multipsk

2009-09-07 Thread Andrew O'Brien
Just a reminder, with Multipsk and in JT65 modes, try clicking on the
VOCALIZATION button. With that pressed (and your speakers on) when
your software decodes

14:447 -09 1 +0244 CQ VA6SZ DO33 D=2757 Km (1713 mil.) Az=308°

The CQ VA6SZ DO33 part will be spoken aloud ... you can be in the
next room and find out who is calling.

My shack is quite active today. Multipsk just announced VA6SZ calling
and Joe DX in Spotcollector is letting me know via voice announcement
Malta is on 17M RTTY.

Thanks Jose, I arrived at the same conclusion. I had a quick and

The difficulty with JT65A is that the decode is not immediate as with
other modes, so I missed it :-)

Hello Andy and all,

Vocalization pertains to a set of functions normally used for blind or
partially sighted Hams or SWL (in JT65 and VOICE modes).
If it permits to monitor JT65 frames at distance, nice!

[digitalradio] Re: SDR-Radio.com

2009-09-07 Thread ed_hekman
Andy,

I built a Softrock RXTX V6.3 earlier this year. It does take some reading to
understand what is offered and what is required/available for each kit. It is
not really a business - the guys design the radios and offer the kits for
little more than the cost of the parts. I think it is mostly the work of Tony
Parks, KB9YIG. Limited runs are made of each kit depending on the interest.

Briefly here is what is available:
 - Softrock Lite II - single band receiver
 - IF Special Softrock Lite - IF panadapter kit - You specify the IF frequency
of your radio.
 - Softrock V9.0 Lite - All band receiver with plugin front end filters for
each band. Also includes an Si570 digital VFO that can be controlled through a
USB port or 1 of 16 preprogrammed frequencies can be selected with 4 dip
switches. There is also an electronically switched BPF filter board and a
6M/2M converter kit available for this receiver.
 - Softrock RXTX V6.3 transceiver - All band transceiver with 4 sets of plugin
BPF modules/PAs to cover all bands from 160 to 10 meters. Output power is less
than 1 watt. This includes the Si570 digital VFO with 16 preprogrammed
frequencies. A USB to I2C converter is available to control the Si570 VFO
through a USB port. Other people offer stand-alone controllers for the Si570.
I bought the one from Kees, K5BCQ (http://www.qsl.net/k5bcq/Kits/Kits.html).
There was a motherboard (MoBo 3.6) for it that held the PA and all the BPF
modules and had electronic switching but that is no longer available. The next
version, MoBo 4.3, will be available later this year. Others offer PAs to
boost the power up to 5 watts, 20 - 40 watts or even 100 watts.

Software that I am aware of includes:
 - Rocky 3.6 - Transceiver with PSK capability - single line text display, no
macros or logging but it is the easiest to set up. I made several PSK QSOs
with Rocky.
 - SDRadio - receive only
 - WinRad - receive only
 - KGKSDR - transceiver - I couldn't get this to work.
 - PowerSDR from Flex-Radio - The most powerful and complex to set up.
 - MultiPSK - It has an SDR front-end. This can do all the MultiPSK digital
modes with an SDR radio.

I hope this helps relieve a little of the confusion.
