[digitalradio] WINMOR so far

2009-09-18 Thread obrienaj
Lots of good beta testing so far, 7080, 3587, 14112, 10136 USB. Intial tests
by various stations seem to suggest failed connects despite good signals. More
testing to be done as to what makes good conencts in poor conditions and failed
connects to good conditions

Re: [digitalradio] 20M RS ID mode hunt, outcome

2009-09-18 Thread Simon (HB9DRV)
FWIW I am progressing very well with my SDR console, so start saving for a
SDR receiver because I'll add RSID reception to the console, this means
you'll be able to monitor a whole band (or bands) for RSID signals in a few
months.

So - for basic RSID hunting with HRD, would these be the main
frequencies to monitor?

  3.580
  7.070
 10.140
 14.072

I've been raving about how cool RSID is to my friends for weeks but I
have yet to actually capture one on my own.

ARRL/TAPR Digital Communications Conference Next Weekend (Sep 17, 2009) --
ARRL and the Tucson Amateur Packet Radio Group (TAPR) will jointly host the
28th Annual Digital Communications Conference (DCC www.tapr.org/dcc) September
25-27 in Chicago. The DCC has something for everyone from those new to digital
modes to those experienced with digital communications including technical and
introductory forums. According to DCC Co-host Mark Thompson, WB9QZB, one of the
highlights of this year's DCC will be Bob Bruninga, WB4APR, presenting
"Universal Ham Radio Text Messaging." The Saturday night banquet speaker will
be Bill Brown, WB8ELK, a pioneer in flying balloons with payloads including
Amateur Radio digital communication technologies. Brown is the publisher and
editor of Amateur Television Quarterly magazine. ARRL Technical Relations
Manager Brennan Price, N4QX, will be on hand to discuss the upcoming World
Radiocommunications Conference in his talk

Software Defined and Cognitive Radio Systems." QEX Editor Larry Wolfgang, WR1B,

TAPR provides leadership and resources to radio amateurs for the purpose of
advancing the radio art and is a research and development oriented group
offering kits, assembled products and publications related to the intersection
of Amateur Radio and digital technology.

[digitalradio] WINMOR / RMS Express screen shots

2009-09-18 Thread obrienaj
Check http://www.obriensweb.com/rms2.jpg for a screen shot of the application.
Captured on a large 22 inch monitor here, so hopefully OK on smaller monitors.

Too early in beta testing to comment on keys issues like the effectiveness of
the HF performance, busy detect capability, etc. The integration of Telnet
Winlink messaging , and the layout of the application is very encouraging.
