Glad you found the guide helpful. Patrick did a wonderful job developing a
robust, error-free chat mode.

[digitalradio] More HF Packet Mailbox Info

2009-11-03 Thread Tony
All,

Connected to Jim, K9VSO today and noticed he posted instructions on how to use
his HF Packet station on Network 105 (14105.0 LSB 1700Hz center frequency) see
below. I've been using both Mixw and Multipsk and they both work quite well on
300 baud Packet...

MIXW:

Click on MODE / PACKET / MODE SETTINGS. Click GENERAL TAB and enter your call
in MYCALLS box. Click MODEM tab and chose HF 300 BAUD - click OK. To connect to
a station, click MODE / CONNECT and enter the call sign of the station in the
REMOTE box then click connect.

MULTIPSK:

In the main window, click PACKET+APRS. Make sure the following buttons are
clicked: UNPROTO / 300 BAUD / FSK. Enter the call sign of the station you wish
to connect to in the DESTINATION box and your call under SENDER. Click CONNECT.

Network 105 uses lower side-band on 14105.0 KHz The mark and space tones are
1600Hz and 1800Hz so use 1700Hz center with Mixw / Multipsk. There are several
stations using internal TNC Mailboxes': W0TX-1, WA6RZW-1, KC6OAR-1 to name a
few. Many use unproto mode for chatting.

The mailbox stations beacon often so it's a good idea to monitor traffic for a
few minutes to see which ones are coming through. The frequency is shared so
response can be slow if there's a lot of traffic.
