[digitalradio] Re: Ham Radio Programs for Windows 7
Kevin, DM780 DOES work with WIN7 Ultimate, but it will not start with the DM780 button in HRD. I'm thinking this may a bug in the current release (HRD 5 2356). Solution: Put a shortcut on your desktop to point to the DM780 executable located in the \Programs Files (x86)\ Amateur Radio\Ham Radio Deluxe folder. Start HRD and then double click on the DM780 desktop shortcut and away it goes. Hope this helps, 73, Gary N7XOO --- In digitalradio@yahoogroups.com, Kevin Redden kred...@... wrote: From: af6it ... Running another virtual OS still requires a beefy machine, and the license and installation of that OS and requires more overhead than simply running that other OS more cleanly from another partition or hard drive. Stu, If you have Win 7 Professional or Ultimate, you also get a fully licensed copy of XP Professional for use in the XP Mode virtualizer. This is not available with Win 7 Starter or Home versions. You can get details at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx Unfortunately, I found the DM 780 will not run on Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) regardless whether I run it natively or in the XP Mode virtual machine. It won't even load and display a splash screen. Kevin W2WOR

Each shot shows an hours worth of activity and the results are very interesting, as was the clear appearance of OTHR, wiping out the band for a few minutes. You can also see what happens when someone turns on the tv here and how I remove the QRM enough to still hear some weak signals. I have included some info and screenshots of WSPR, if anyone is interested. The URL is below: *http://www.hfradio.org.uk/html/digital_modes.html* - don't forget to have a look around the rest of the site too! 73 de Sean Gilbert, G4UCJ - G4001SWL Nice website, good find Andy, Just one omission in the WSPR section for the 60M frequency of 5.2872MHz I'll email Sean to ask if he will consider adding the 60M band details. [digitalradio] DM780 NG Under Windows 7 64 Bit (was: Ham Radio Programs for Windows 7)
DM780 DOES work with WIN7 Ultimate, but it will not start with the DM780 button in HRD. I'm thinking this may a bug in the current release (HRD 5 2356). Hi Gary, I've tried that, plus a lot more tricks, all to no avail. Many others are also reporting the DM780 will not run natively on Win7 64 bit over on the HRD web site. I get the same results with V4.0 and beta V5.0 - DM780 just doesn't want to run on the 64 bit Win7. When I use the XP Mode virtualization under Win7, DM780 will start, but still won't run properly.
