In WSJT, F5 key is your friend!

RO means you received the OOO

it is a shorthand roger for the OOO report...

Seems to be some confusion about what message to send when
running JT65
and what the reports mean. That's understandable since the mode
was
developed for EME and not HF.

The morse letter O (not zero) is used during EME CW QSO's
to indicate that signals are readable and both calls were copied.
The JT65
mode uses the digital version of this.

The RO means ROGER I've received your O report and your
report
is also O. If you're not sure what message to send, hit F5 with
WSJT
running and a small help window will pop-up. It shows the correct
message to
  send for each mode.

  Hope this helps...

but some seem to skip a step and even suggest that one should skip a step.

Take a looks at the QSO, I think this is done right, maybe ?

231400 6 -14 -0.6 -444 3 * VE3FGU WD4GBW FM171 0
231500 3 -18 -0.2 -428 3 # WD4GBW VE3FGU FN04 OOO 1 0
231600 10 -19 -444 3 RO ?
231700 10 -19 -428 3 RRR ?
231800 10 -20 -444 3 73 ?
231900 10 -19 -427 3 73 ?

I don't know who called CQ but I assume VE3FGU did...
Then WD4GBW sent both calls, report (grid) and OOO's.
Then VE3FGU rogered the OOO's, with RO, did not send OOO's himself
Then VE3FGU sent RRR's but WD4GBW responded with 73, are BOTH not required
to send RRR's?
Then VE3FGU sent the optional 73.

Re: [digitalradio] Re: JT65 Reports / Messages

2007-04-14 Thread KT2Q
Andy:

Here's the correct exchange with a few notes to clarify...

Message Sent Sent by Meaning

CQ K3UK FN02 K3UK CQ de K3UK in Grid FN02
K3UK KT2Q FN30 KT2QK3UK de KT2Q in Grid FN30
KT2Q K3UK FN02 000 K3UKKT2Q de K3UK in FN02 your report is
O
RO KT2QRoger, received my
report and your report is O
RRR K3UKRoger
73 KT2Q73

It's realy not much different than any other QSO exchange; the minimum
requirement for a legitimate QSO would be callsigns and reports given both
ways!

If any WSJT messages are skipped, other than the optional 73 then information
will be missing from one party or the other. Hope this helps...
