David,

Look seriously at the SDR-1000 (http://www.flex-radio.com).

Subject: [digitalradio] but which rig ?

following this modem/bw thread thru many rigs

so i don't think anyone has offered their ideas on which of the current
rigs will pass audio the best.

am in market for one that will pass a digisstv signal using
hamdream/hampal and digitrx (rdft)

this afternoon i was messing with my ft920 and the digital sstv
programs, i monitored on a completely diffirent system, and low and
behold, the digital input on the rear apron drops all the low
frequencies especially using rdft modulation. the cutoff point dropped
1 1/2 blocks ! i tried running the modes thru the mic input, and now
got full bw thruput (slight rolloff low with EQ to off/flat), but level
input is touchy to the mic. would like a rig that doesnt require me to
run anything thru the mike if possible, makes switching cables etc a pain.

so which rig ??? (not opposed to SDR if it can work)

I've just bought another SDR1000 (finger trouble on my early one meant
that I decided to start from scratch with a ready built unit) and I'm
just setting it up again.

hen I'll be looking to get it going on digital modes as well. Anyone
else using the SDR1000? If so, any advice on getting it all set up
would be useful.

Thanks - Dave (G0DJA)
